I just have to say that this score is AMAZING. I haven't stopped listening to it. I saw the movie in 1997 but this was on VHS where music always sounded like mud so I never payed much attention to it. What an amazing discovery. Are there any other Goldsmith scores as good?

Good or bad is (almost) always subjective, speaking of The Ghost and the Darkness it's a typical score of a Goldsmith style common on his latest years. I'd say The Mummy and Congo share some similarities mainly from their african elements wherein these movies take place.

But if you really like The Ghost and the Darkness, i guess you would also like other Goldsmith scores around the same period of time like, Medicine Man, The Edge, The 13th Warrior or The First Knight.

To Sanico, what you say is true...and one of the reason I like this soundtrack: is those "African elements" who give and other dimension to the Score...I even like very much the tracks of "Worldbeaters" who are a plus to the soundtrack and give it a kind of "tribal" aspect !!!...for me a Great Scores ;) ( but I prefer this one to Congo )...

The sessions are circulating now. Hopefully we will see those soon. Never saw the film but I'll take anything that's available expanded from Goldsmith.

Thanks, Yannis and Soundtrekker. I've always loved this score - I'm a sucker for scores with that African tribal feel. I recently bought the expanded release of Goldsmith's score for Congo - man oh man is it great - same African feel and yet completely different sounding. Still hard to accept that there won't be any new Goldsmith scored movies.
