River City Ransom to crazy occidentals!
You all remember RCR, right? This is an update for the GBA.
Anyways, it came out last monday and I finally got my copy a few days ago.
It's awesome. The amount of techniques you start the game with already dwarf everything you could get in the original RCR. There are also dozens of techs to buy, and you can set any of them to any button or moment to drastically change the gameplay. Don't want to do the flying kick after running? Change it to standing. Or switch it to a charged standing kick and keep the mach kick as the normal one. Also, the story has been bumped up quite a bit so that you can get other bosses or pals to join your gang, and then you can run around with a full on ruffian army kicking butt. You can't save the game though, only character status, but it's short enough for that to not matter, and it's fun to go an entirely different path through the story each time you play. For instance, the main characters:Riki and Kunio, are actually rivals when the game starts. And if you play a one player game with either of them, then depending on what you do, you may actually have to fight the other.
So , uh, that's all. For those that don't know, Downtown Nekketsu is my all time favorite game series, and this is a great new addition to it. The US release should be in the end of May. However, they may completely change things to make it closer to RCR. I hope not. It's not so bad in the NES game, but there's a lot more to the relationships and such in this one, and if the series is actually getting a full on revival, I don't want every kunio game that comes out in the US to have completely different names for Kunio in every single game. I imagine they'll simply change the character and area names to the old ones since the map of hte game is exactly the same as it, but I think they'll keep the story elements intact.
