Hi guys. I need advice.

I would love to download an entire huge channel from YouTube, nightmarerh's channel to be precise. He has some 800 videos so it will probably take me some time to get them all. However, there's one snag and I just don't find answers. Seeing as I'm blind, I'm only interested in the sound, and so I think having to download all those HD files would be a total waste of bandwith. However, there seems to be not a single programme out there that can just grab the sound of YOuTube videos! Is this really impossible? I can only download like 40GB of untouched material and then I can convert to MP3, but that's gonna take me ages.

I guess I should also say that I'm doing this because YOuTube becomes more difficult to handle with my screenreader. So all I am looking for is software that can download sound from YOuTube videos without having to download the source first, and that supports playlists. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Get DvdVideoSoft's 'Youtube to MP3 Converter' Free YouTube to MP3 Converter: convert video and playlist from YouTube to MP3 (http://www.dvdvideosoft.com/products/dvd/Free-YouTube-to-MP3-Converter.htm)
This will extract all the sounds contained in the videos you want. It detects playlists too, so you don't have to download a vid manually. I use it to download soundtracks in playlists in youtube, it works.

I'm already using that software and you're right, it works great, but the problem is that it needs to download the video files, which are all big and it's a total waste of space because I don't even want to have the video. It can't just download sound, I'm looking for a way to download those videos directly in MP3, without having to convert video files or having to download them at all. One video file is about 150MB and the sound is like 10MB. I just want to download the 10MB without wasting another 140 of bandwith.

JDownloader is freeware.

I use that if I want to snag a video from youtube.
Your download options are MP3 (from tmp file), MP4 (with AAC audio), .webm, .flv, etc.

JDownloader will download the audio separately in a .tmp file then remux it to mp3 format.

I use the Easy Youtube Video Downloader (http://www.bestvideodownloader.com/) add-on for Firefox. Allows me to download any video there in FLV, MP4 (if the video is high resolution) or just the audio in MP3.

Otherwise, an alternative is to load up any wave editor like Audacity, play the video on Youtube and record it that way, but that's a real convoluted way of doing things (although under my country's law, that is actually technically legal, as it's called 'format shifting').

They also have a thing for videos.

Jdownloader downloads many youtube video fomats and mp3 files as batch, Don't recall it being visual impaired friendly or any other program.

I dunno the name of the program just now, but besides those options I have a toolbar for a program that will download any sound coming from your speakers. Just start it, start the vid, and when you are done, dl that sound file and you're done. Dunno about playlists, it likely has to all be done manually, and I have no idea how it would work with a screensaver.

Yeah, playlists do seem to be problematic. I would normally just go to YOuTube every time and skip the videos I already watched, but for some reason the order in which they are played changes every time. And also, every programme seems to have to start frm the source file which is about 150MB for ten minutes, such a waste of bandwith... Even when you only want to keep the sound, every software just has to download the video first.

JDownloader 2 BETA can either look up all formats plus the playlist if wanted.

No there isn't.

There is only JDownloader.

This should be a forum rule.
