Hmm how do I start?
Well, Long time member here. I have noticed something maybe quite rare since only a few people are doing it.
Given that it can only take time before others to catch on, they might soon follow suite. What am I referring to is,
using adf.ly to wrap their links. I rarely venture past the VGM thread so I have no idea if it is only isolated there
or present in the other Film, Television and Classical Music Download Links, Anime Music Download Links and
Anime Download threads, though I doubt it.

Personally, it didn't really use to bug me when I first saw it, I kinda ignored it, then I saw it again but this time
from an old timer member. Back then he was one of the last rare rippers that was still actively ripping, encoding,
transcoding and taking requests and much so very
knowledgeable about the works with the right tool and programming, since much of the old crew bowed out
after mega got closed (links became dead and chore to reupload again) then continuous warnings before
suspension of their mediafire account.

Like, I said, it didnt really bug me, I helped once/twice to get him some things in the pasts and he seemed
like a nice bloke. I know sometimes with all the work done to share VGMs with the community, some people
take it for granted and in some scenarios cant even say thank you, which quite frankly - been ungrateful. So
I saw no problems when he started using adf.ly for links - I am assuming here - at jab back at those ungrateful
that leech and flee people.

My apologies here, I just wanted to set the scenery right which was the reason for the above statements.
Now the thing that irks me is that some members that in no form to my knowledge are even doing any form
of indepth ripping or name it what not get the files from elsewhere ( FFshrine isnt the only VGM community),
in some case having the audacity to rip it from streams, then post it here using adf.ly

I have ripped off streams before it is not rocket science, but the very fact that is freely available begs the
question. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate their effort to bring in content and contribute but their method of
sharing to me is plain and simply wrong.

Am I the only one that feels this way?

I'm mostly in the film section and I haven't seen a fly in forever there.
Can't speak for anime people.
I leave them to their own.

I often wonder about ad.fly.
It's almost borderline profiteering like Megaupload.
Money from pirated content.
I wonder how long before ad.fly gets attacked like MU had been.
I wonder if there's to be any assault on any forums that don't moderate any such noise.
I wonder if the trigger-happy ad.flyers are the ones that are really going to kill the site and not the film section.
I wonder...

Wondering if this thread is aimed at me......

Helllz NOOOO! (seriously) I was neither directing the statement to you nor even noticed you . I hardly even click on any of your threads
I guess bcos my tastes are different.
Besides, you are a Mod ( I have this perception that you peeps are Overlords & above the law - and I am cool with that )
Its' the other Toms, Dicks and Harrys like me I am referring to.

Ok cool lol. Was just wondering because i started using adfly myself, mostly because the net i'm using to upload most stuff isn't mine and i wanted to try and pay the person back because they have a pay by usage internet contract. Adfly really doesn't help in that regard, for me anyway, because i'm exclusive to this forum, so i make pretty much nothing anyway lol.

I don't think me being an admin or mod should give me any special privileges over other members here when it comes to the posting of links. I really think the people here that post music are great and help this community grow, so they should be allowed choose what way they want to upload and post their links, as long as it's not to some really shady place that links to porn or somewhere virus infected.

I've also lost many accounts and uploads in the 6 years i've been posting music here, so i know how frustrating it is and how hard it is to keep uploading after hitting so many set backs. So if this does help people continue to share with us, i don't think it's too bad a thing.

I dont agree with your reply there Jessie, esp. the second paragraph. I personally feel if
someone wants to share, they should do so only if their true motive is that they really want to
share. And if they stumble across a gold mine - streaming content, and you wish to raise
awareness then forward people there. If someone requests a rip of the content, only do so if you
are on the same wavelength I mentioned above.

In the case they have alternate motives aka posting links via hits, I would rather have
all of them move to warez sites or blogs taking their adf.ly links with them. Because that's the
general driving motive on those sites. Take scene release site such as rlslog as an example.
I hope you see what I am trying to say.

Well maybe if i knew who the person in question is, it might change the way i think about what i said, or maybe what i said doesn't apply to this person.

You can tell me in pm if you'd like or i could just drop the subject now.
