I've put this here, because I didn't really know what to classify this game as but I figure, it's a game, so i'll put it in here.

I just bought my GameCube yesterday, which came with a free Gameboy Player and game. After having fun for 10 minutes playing FF Tactics Advance on the BIG screen, I put in my free game.

Now, I loved Lylat Wars (Star Fox 64 in the States). Back in the old days, I bought a Nintendo 64 for one reason - Perfect Dark. I never got around to getting it, but there were two games I did have, and played incessently - Star Wars Episode I: Racer, and Lylat Wars.

Sure, to an extent it was a Star Wars rip-off - the Arwing (R-Wing?) may as well have been an X-Wing, but the characters and locations were endearing. Who couldn't identify with Fox McCloud, fearless fighter pilot? It was an example of good old fashioned Nintendo fun.

So, when I got my free game, I had a choice of four - Super Mario Sunshine, Super Smash Brothers Melee, Luigi's Mansion, and Star Fox Adventures. Call me a heretic, but I find Smash Bros boring beyond all belief - even playing with my friends, I get over it in half an hour. Luigi's Mansion I played a demo of, and Super Mario ditto, and both seemed like normal platform fare to me.

That left Star Fox Adventures. A game I knew nothing about, except it starred my favourite fox hero... uh... Fox. So take it home I did - and I have not regretted it since.

I've only just started playing it, but already I love it - now, Zelda has never really appealed to me, and Ocarina of Time wasn't my cup of tea, and SFA emulates Zelda to a T. But I still love it. I can't really explain why - I think it's just the characters that needed to grab my attention. I haven't got into the meat of the story yet, but already it promises to be an indepth, engrossing game.

The most disappointing thing is the Arwing sequences - but they're still a blast. Sure, they're exactly the same as Lylat Wars, but they have prettier graphics, so it's ok by me. They're SFA's 'gummi ship' anyway, and they do a heck of a lot better job than that little nuisance in Kingdom Hearts.

So, first impressions - Fox McCloud kicking ass with a magic staff = cool. The fact that tis designed by Rareware makes it even better - I know i'm going to be playing a tight game the whole way through.

The only thing that i'm not looking forward to is the time-limit - FF Crystal Chronicles is Friday, and from what i've heard, SFA is a better game. But when The Twin Snakes comes out in a couple of weeks, Snake is going to require my full attention... so hopefully i'll beat SFA before then ;)

...and no, I haven't finished FF 10-2 yet. My PS2 is lonely. It will have to wait until after The Twin Snakes is done :D

But I digress - is there anyone else here who owns / has played Star Fox Adventures? Share your experiences!

...You are completely mad. You like Star Fox Adventures and not SSB? Even worse, you like Star Fox Adventures and not Ocarina of Time? I think you should be banned. =(

Well, in all seriousness, I guess it's nice that there's someone out there who does appreciate that game. I couldn't stand it myself. Either way, enjoy your GameCube. It's a wonderful system.

SFA was an ok game. The battles were way too eay and the puzzles hard. I never did get to finish the game because there's a 'boss' later in the game that forces you to push the A button really fast and I couldn't do it. :(

You just didn't want to get SSB because you knew that I'm invincible when I play as Captain Falcon. And, and you didn't want to get pwned, and stuff.

Star Fox Adventures is something to look into getting- our gamecube collection needs fleshing out, and since you and Merl are the same person I'm sure at least one person in our household will enjoy it.

SSB Melee is the best game... ever.

I don't think I have ever lost 1 on 1 when I play with Zelda/Sheik....

Man, the one game in the world that I REALLY want Nintendo to make is an SSB that has online capabilities. Think how much fun it would be if we could all play each other. God damn.

That or an arcade version. I'd go play it every day.

So far, I have never come across a single person on the internet who plays a lot of SSB and doesn't think they can destroy anybody who challenges them with so and so character. What is it about this game that makes people so cocky? I guess it's the fact that the moves are so simple, so people think they know they've got the game "mastered" as soon as they know how to do a smash in every direction. Trust me, you aren't nearly as good as you think you are.

I'll admit I am cocky as hell about this game. Once I was able to go through Allstar Mode on Very Hard without any continues, I got extremely cocky.... plus the fact that i never lose. Not saying I'm better than any of you, but God i would love to kick your ass at this game.... we need to another one of those FFshrine meet-up thingies that I hear happened before I came back....

I'd be wearing bullet-proof armor though...

I play SSBM too much :(
When I get bored, I just put 3 level 9 computers on a team and fight against them all. I actually do rather well, but that's because I'm what my brother refers to as "cheapass" and "item thief". Bah, winning is winning. Especially when I beat him and laugh. LAUGH I SAY.
