I asked very nicely if my account could be deleted. Understandably, ya'll must have dealt with this in the past as i can see one other post by someone who wanted their account deleted and there were about 4 pages of a mini lame-ass flame war.

I'm not trying to be a dick, or put final fantasy down in any way. I made a human error on the fucking internet and would like it to be corrected. One note answers such as: "NO" do not help me in the least bit. Nor do i understand what you have against me that would warrant such a response.

Even the dude in the other post had his account deleted after a while. Granted those posts are from 2008 and I don't know who does shit around here nowadays. Anyway, I humbly ask again for someone to assist me, by giving me their information so i can pm them and get this whole thing put behind me and whoever else is involved.

And yes, I could just logout and never log back in again, but I'd rather just have the satisfaction of knowing that this is just gone from my internets.

In conclusion, haters: try not to suck any dick on your way out to the parking lot. leave this be. i don't want shit from you, you don't want shit from me.
And, to anyone who is kind enough: Your help would be greatly appreciated.

It turns out you actually did read previous inquiries on this, so you saw that it's been stated MULTIPLE times that accounts are NOT deleted! Period!

It doesn't matter that you asked nicely. Just because you ask for something nicely doesn't mean you'll get it.

Change your password to something you'll forget and kindly fucking leave!

"so you saw that it's been stated MULTIPLE times that accounts are NOT deleted! Period!" this is not what i said. i did say that i had seen previous iquiries into this topic, but i also said that the person who inquired about getting his account deleted DID IN FACT GET HIS ACCOUNT REMOVED! That's all I want. And yes, I know that just because I ask for something nicely I won't necessarily get it, but FUCK DUDE isn't a little bit of courteousness worthwhile? Would it have been better if I just posted "HEY FUCKTARADSS< DELETE MY ACCONT RITE NAO!@?@?!?@@?!"? Why get pissed off at someone for asking such a question? Not every has +100 internets like you do, bro...

Well, that was back in 2008 and 2010. Obviously, accounts aren't being deleted now; yet, users continue to request useless account deletions.

Maybe you should have thought it through more before you created an account here.

Now, get lost!

I assure you, this site is an incredible resource for soundtracks and scores, which I assume you were looking for. I don't know the reason that the download you were looking for did not work, but it's very likely it was an older download that got removed for infringement on a storage site, or the site closed down. Generous users are usually quick to re-upload tracks when requested, so I suggest you ask for one in the thread. You'll be missing a lot by deleting your account, I suggest you make the most of your time here.

TL;DR calm yourself amaury.

Why are some people so keen on deleting their account here? I fail to see the logic behind it... This is a come-and-go-as-you-please kind of website. If one doesn't like the forum, he/she can simply stop visiting and we won't have a thread like this.
Could you please explain what you are going to achieve by having your account deleted? I'm asking out of genuine curiosity.

And yes, I could just logout and never log back in again, but I'd rather just have the satisfaction of knowing that this is just gone from my internets.
I believe there's a problem with that, boards usually keep track of stuff like IP addresses for operations like Bans or, who knows, usage statistics... Even if they were to erase your account, you won't completely erase yourself from here, much to your displeasure. The account deletions you mentioned most likely happened because this place got "hacked", and someone thought it was fun to randomly delete accounts.

Seriously, the Shrine has you, Neo.

In regards to possible reasons behind those "Delete me" requests: some are scared that they're going to get a visit from the 'legality army" because of their presence here when, in fact, they should not download/upload in the first place, given how most file-hosting websites keep track, again, of stuff like IP addresses.

@bigpapanasty: I'm just going to copy and paste my response in another of these threads, as I honestly can't be bothered with answering the same question again and again and again...

Normally I'd post a violently abusive diatribe at the poster responsible for making this thread come to the top of the page for this subforum, maybe even call question into the heriditary of said poster... but honestly, I don't have it in myself to do so at this time. Waking up with a migraine and toothache, as well as vomiting all night and having fuck all sleep, has left myself feeling like death warmed up... anyway, enough about me...

mind i ask how do i pm an admin or a mod so that i can also cancel my account (yeah yeah i know all the "forever stuck here" and the like with the ip log and all that...) i can't find anywhere a button to talk to some1 at all so if some1 would be kind enough i would really appreciate that

You can send PM's when your post count is around 10... meaning you have to contribute to the forum. Might I suggest perusing the other subforums and making some posts?

if some1 is curious about my story it's that i saw something promising on a thread here and found it wasn't after registering so i want to delete the account so that i can feel eased by the fact that it isn't there (even though the ip is logged for different reasons and sort of acts like an existing account)

It is not the policy of this forum to delete accounts. Rather they are kept in case one decides to take a leave of absence and then return at a later date. If you do not want to come back, then I suggest you change your password to something you'll easily forget and not come back.

ok...so can you help me talk to one of the mods? because i feel i've been asking rather nicely and the response was rather raw and brute...all i ask is where the hell is a button to send some1 a pm because i can't find it anywhere

The reason you are receiving 'raw and brute' answers, is because the entire purpose of your post has already been answered earlier in this thread. Might I suggest that you take the time to read this thread from the beginning and concentrate on the responses by other members stating as to why accounts are not deleted. In particular, take note of the following post by Enkidoh:

Let me phrase this in a way you can understand.

ACCOUNTS ARE NOT DELETED!!!

If you don't want to come back here, that's fine - if it's really that much of an issue, change your password to some random gibberish and then forget about it. It's essentially the same as deleting it.

Oh, and even if we did delete accounts it wouldn't hide your tracks from law enforcement for downloading music anyway, as the host provider keeps logs of your IP address every time you access the site. So yeah, they'll still find you either way if you've done naughty things. ;)

So, basically, to summarize (and quoting Monty Burns from The Simpsons - YOU ARE HERE... FOREVER!! There is no escape.

Please read this carefully and think on what is said... as this does answer your questions.

and what reading were you reffering to? you mean the previous posts here on the thread?

Yes, that is what Amaury is referring to.

so much for nicety on this site...oh well...looks like this is a community with 180 degree view than the rest of the communities i've been to...but what am i saying you would swear me either way so i'm gonna be one last time nice to the people here and thank them for the information regarding my question

Again, the reason for the brusque nature of the responses, is due to the fact that what you are asking for has been answered numerous times, not just in this thread but others all asking the same thing : Delete my account. After having so many people ask the same thing, the nature of forum regulars who see threads of this nature appear, is to attack... tooth and claw, because it often implies that the person asking this question, has not bothered to read the responses answering this same question.

in the future try and be nice to the people who ask you nicely and use an appropiate tone for those who speak in a violent manner

The members of this forum are nice people and do use the appropriate tone to discuss with others. Like I said, it's only when people post the same thing again and again in a thread where their question was already asked and answered multiple times, it gets on the ire of other members, hence why the commentary.

In summary:

To post a PM, need to have at least 10 posts made and wait at least 24 hours to send PM's to other members.
It is forum policy to keep accounts and not delete them.
Change your password to one you'll easily forget and do not come back.
Read and understand the previous posts in a thread you are thinking of posting in, BEFORE doing so.

I'm sorry for going off-topic, but there's one thing I don't understand: a person's obviously entitled to do whatever he/she wants, BUT, you often mention how you can't be bothered with answering the same question... Heh, there's somebody or something forcing you to do so? In my humble opinion, it's better to give these threads a kind of "robotic" response, no need to have them become Flame/Insults' contests.

I can't fathom why people wouldn't just leave these threads alone when they don't want to give proper answers.

With respect, I think a question like this - which asks nothing more than the performance of a quick privacy-related administrative task - deserves, at the very least, a better answer. At a website which has its security routinely compromised (even though that's not happening as often lately as before - touch wood) it's hardly surprising that people want it done.

An angry, dismissive response is no response and seems like nothing more than "no" purely for the sake of saying no. Deleting one or two or three accounts a week (roughly the rate at which this service is requested) will occupy a moderator for a grand total of about thirty seconds and would put a quick stop to the rabid witch-hunt that begins every time somebody asks.

If the answer is indeed no, and that's official, set in stone, and agreed upon after an actual discussion between administrators (including Sarah, the site owner; with whom the buck ultimately stops) then:

a) The fact that accounts, once created, will not be deleted needs to be specified CLEARLY and SUCCINCTLY somewhere a potential user can see it before he signs up (the logical place being at the signup page)... and
b) A sticky thread ("DO YOU WANT YOUR ACCOUNT DELETED? PLEASE READ THIS!") needs to be made to clarify again and explain, with reasons ("no" is not a reason; it merely invites the equally valid question "why not?" and thus encourages more discussion on a topic that everybody is quite clearly sick of talking about) and without the aggression, obscene language, bullying, browbeating, and ganging up which usually characterises the reaction in these sort of threads.

Until this happens, these threads will keep on coming up, people will continue to complain, they will continue to get their heads figuratively ripped off for no real reason, and the cycle will continue forever.

TL;DR - If this genuinely is a case of wanting to stop these threads... either a) Institute policy whereby FFshrine does delete accounts on request, or b) Institute policy whereby accounts will NOT be deleted, warn people before they sign up and explain the reasons in a sticky thread to pre-empt people asking silly questions.

That much I had already seen on my own, docrate1, thanks. I've worded myself badly, I'll try to elaborate: does such behaviour warrant rudeness? We understandably become sick of seeing this stuff show up... But did it take that much of a toll that we're now unable to ignore such useless requests? (I'm using useless because the guy stated he had already seen discussions on the issue, so it was only a matter of "get it/deal with it").

Do we have to show everyone how "pricky" we can become? Don't know about you, folks, but whenever I don't feel like answering... I simply don't. I'm not taking sides, here, I'm merely commenting on the impressions I've got... in regards to people seemingly commenting so that they could see a box with their message/avatar.

Well, I honestly don't understand what the problem is... I'm an administrator at another forum (a little bit smaller then FFshrine) which receives about two or three requests a week. It annoys me but I just delete the accounts because it's quicker to just do it than to argue, and it takes such a tiny amount of time I think it's worth doing from a customer services point of view. If somebody wants something done, and I can do it, and it takes me no effort, why wouldn't I do it unless I just wanted to ram it down their throats that I could help them but I won't? Life's too short to get into repetitive arguments on the internet. Spend ten seconds deleting the bloody account and go and do something else.

If you definitely absolutely don't want to do it for XYZ reason, tell people what the reason is and tell it to them before they feel the need to ask the question.

My response contained the relevant information, that the OP bigpapanasty was after. No one forced myself to respond either, just as no one forced you to respond against my post either. Is it now a crime to answer a post? No. Was my post insultive or inflammatory? No. I was answering someone who wanted some information about why their account can't be deleted, in a more informative way than a simple one word answer.

Also, I do consider my response to give the 'proper answers' as it contains the information for the OP. Before attacking someone's post, please consider said content in the post... before giving the impression that one is exactly the same as they have stated in their post and directed at someone else.

With respect, I think a question like this - which asks nothing more than the performance of a quick privacy-related administrative task - deserves, at the very least, a better answer. At a website which has its security routinely compromised (even though that's not happening as often lately as before - touch wood) it's hardly surprising that people want it done.

The reason (That I think of anyway) that we've seen a surge in these kinds of threads, is that these members want to try and 'cover up' their activities (IE: Downloading music, films etc) and are scared of being prosecuted for such activities. They want their account deleted so they can say they did no wrong... when the site automatically tracks their IP anyway. All websites are prone to having their security compromised and I have my own thoughts as to why FF Shrine has been attacked, but I won't go into detail here as A: This isn't the appropriate place to state such and B: I'm not going to derail this thread further than it already has been.

The reason for angry, dismissive responses to threads like this, are completely understandable as they have been asked numerous times in the past and always the same answer is given. If posters such as bigpapanasty keep asking the same question via creating a thread asking for such, then forum regulars will understandably be annoyed.

If the answer is indeed no, and that's official, set in stone, and agreed upon after an actual discussion between administrators (including Sarah, the site owner; with whom the buck ultimately stops) then:

It is this forum's policy not to delete accounts, hence the generally accepted answer for these questions is for the member who wants their account deleted, to change their password to something they can easily forget and not come back. Accounts are kept active, in case members take a extended leave of absence, and can return without having to bother with the whole registration process again.

Until this happens, these threads will keep on coming up, people will continue to complain, they will continue to get their heads figuratively ripped off for no real reason, and the cycle will continue forever.

This I agree with, and your second point in the above paragraph. I have made a request for a Admin to create a sticky thread stating the situation with Accounts and requests for their deletion.

This thread and persistent rude requests of one user made me very afraid about lifes and time of some people on our planet... ok, i understand, usually there is possibility to remove the account... i was surprised myself when i realised here such possibility doesn't exist (coz i wanted to remove second account, much older than my present but even useless coz without confirmation via email adress). But... if there is no possibilty, ok, who cares, one more account could provide larger number of forum's users xD

But... of course... Some people could have REALLY serious reason to delete their accounts (for example: they made the deal with death so they could live long if they don't use this website or they are just going to be imprisoned when someone discovers they made the account here!). But wait... It's sad... Small number of human beings around here seems to be denuded of thinking ability. Because the death WILL KNOW you were here and anyone WILL KNOW you made an account here NO MATTER you delete your account or NOT. You have already left tracks here, for example you can be tracked by your IP adress, and removing account DOESN'T remove these tracks. And the WORST of all is: YOU WAIST YOUR LIFE AND TIME BY ARGUING IN POSTS. And if you think you do something right for 'web justice', you may be very wrong and your acts truly comes from your own anger or desolation of your own life.

And once more and for all: NO. Even if the god himself gave you the vision to delete the account here, he is good and rightful, he understand there is no possibility for you to achieve this and he is now very sad you have failed him by using rude words here...

Oh... And sorry for my long post but really i coudnt stand something like this and think i've even concluded whole thread (and many others similar threads) with this post xD
