I have to say it... I love final fantasy. but in my eyes all the games that have come out after VII are worse than VII... Thats my personal opinion. does any1 else feel the same?

I disagree. I like 10 more, plus I like 9, and I like 8 a lot too. 7 is just one of many I like.

I know, they are all great games...but i got FFVII about a year after it came out, and im still playing it...but im still playing 8 or 9...basically, after playing VII i was expecting something really great, and I feel dissapointed. :(

woops, i mean im not playing 8 or 9 anymore:D

I completely agree, the only final fantasy to come out after 7 that was just as fun was tactics. I didn't enjoy 8 anywhere near as much as I thought I would, 9 was a little better, and so far 10 is just boring (the most fun I'm having with that game is in blitzball).

Even though FFX is really easy I think it is better than FFVII, just alittle, I have so much fun playing FFX, I think it is the best in the series.

The difficulty is only one end of this multi-sided web of poopieness. Not only is 10 easiest, but also WAY WAY TO LINEAR!!!!!! dont get me wrong, its a great game...but 7 is the best forever...

And I think that tactics is better than 8 9 and 10! Im very scared that 7 was the climax of Squaresoft's rollercoaster ride of Final Fantasy....I hope not though. Final Fantasy 11 looks sweet, and it sounds like it will be way better than EQ(current king of online gaming, in my opinion).

I love Final Fantasy VII too. But I have to say that FFVI is the best. FFVII would be second. But then, it's probably because FFVI was my first game. Maybe if I had played FFVII first, it would be my favorite.

Which 6 are you talking about? the actual 6th(w/ terra, espers etc)?

There is only 1 FF6. Gotta love those espers. I would of included this but he talked about FFs after 7.

I know that FFVII it's the first FF series with 3D and also with Materia system, make the game looks great, but I still like FFX better even in FFX we can't control the airship.

I really dont give a damn about graphics with a game(unless the company didnt even attempt at something of eye candy), but the fact of the matter is, is that i think the story of FFVII was the best, and each one after that has been worse, and I know im not the only person who thinks so.

Woops sorry, don't be mad, okay, hahahaha. After all, even i'm still say that FFX is the best, but the main character in FFVII(CLOUD) is very cool, not like Tidus, and the story in FFVII is much longer and good than the other FF series(except FFVI).;)

I think that all the FF games that have come out for PS and PS2 have been great and I also think that 7 and 10 have been the two best. Which one is better, that's hard for me to answer. Overall storyline, I think I'd probably give it to 10. As a game, it's tougher there because both have extremely unique aspects which make both enjoyable. I haven't played 7 in a while so I can't think of anything I really liked about it in particular but I remember that it was an awesome game that had me hooked. I'd probably say 10 right now because it's the one I've played most recently. But I do agree that 7 was WAY better than 8 and 9.

I find FFVII and FFVI the best of the series.... FFX comes in a good second place ;)
FFVI: The story is just great as well as the characters, the villians.. everything is so final fantasy in this game
FFVII: The story is unique and the graphics are amazing for the ps1 and it made the final fantasy on the playstation ^_^

Carrbunkle,

The only thing that I miss about Final Fantasy 7 was the Theme Park. It was the best side-quest ever invented - friggin' Chocobo races, rides, video games - that was one awesome extra.

If the newer Final Fantasy's had theme parks in them (or something similar - a break in the middle after fighting so much) - I'd never miss FF7. The storyline's and graphics in 8 and 10 are much more interesting! To be honest, FF9 was a disappointment to me - I haven't finished it, and don't care enough about the characters to do so. The plot was kind of obvious to begin with, and with the baby graphics on top of it, I thought it was Square's ploy to get a younger demo. uh...but then again, I'm an "older" gamer....I prefer to be called a "classic" lol!

Carrbunkle,

Well....ya! :) What do YOU miss about FF7?

I miss the characters in FF8, Rinoa, Squall, Irvine, Seifer, Zell, Quistis and Selphie were all pretty cool. I liked the whole goin-to-school thing too at the start, it made the game more intriguing and felt like you were in a world.

Sometimes, in FF7 I just wanted to beat Sephiroth so bad, I didn't have fun...just this vengeful need for justice...lol! It made the final battle really, really satisfying...but the journey in FF8 was more fun in the way that ....sometimes I'd want to stop and drink in what just happened...like when (FF8 spoiler... Rinoa and Squall were in the ship (Ragnorok) and had that moment, which was kind of spoiled by having to return to earth OR ....I even liked hanging out in Zell's hometown - it was comforting to know that you were always welcome in his old house y'know?)

NO GAME WILL EVER BEAT FF7 :exception is secret of mana but thats the only one ff7 had the best storyline of anything i have ever seen personaly better then any book or movie the game at its time the graphics where revolutionary pertty much and the charecters had good backrounds and pasts and they were all cool and the people in it reacted just like how i would of reacted if i where in the same situation and they made you feel like you where a charecter yourself

I dont miss any of FFVII...cuz im still playing it!

and about the Zells house thing... In FF7 you can buy a house!

FF7 is the greatest, was the greatest, and is the greatest EVER.
No FF game has even come near the fun Ive had w/ FF7....
and they are all good, no, great games, but I think FF7 is the greatest RPG ever.

I love every Final Fantasy game, but FFIX. I think IX was made just to keep people happy while X was being made, and its definately visually nice in many places, but the gameplay was not new at all...and when you trance and the battle ends right away, you want to shoot yourself (or your PS) lol. FFVIII was MUCH different than any other FF games, and was based off of the quest for love, and based a little bit on saving the world. Every other FF game is based on preserving the world, with love as a backdrop. VIII was a great change, and origional IMO...but VI, VII, and X are the best. (not to mention Tactics, but its so different I dont think it should be rated against other FFs.)

The only other game that comes close to FF7 is Legend of Man, the sequal is way better.

FF7 is, and always will be, the best game ever. FF8 and 9 are ace, but nothing can beat FF7.

well ffx was extremely easy, and 8 was awesome, i dont know why people put it down so much!?! 7 was awesome too, almost the best.....the best, (to me, cuz if i said just the best people would explode with bad comments and stuff) was ff9.....why you might ask??? well whats cool about like a hundred side quests...huge beautiful enviornments,an actually evil enemy, and 8 awesome characters being so open so unordinary, so unpredictable, so attachable, so perfect....??? well then i answered my own question....thats why...

FF7 was great, but i found FF8 just as amazing in every aspect of the game. I thought 7 was better than 9, but 10 can compete with 7. It was extremely well done, and I just found that FF's were always good.

Hmm..to say wich was the best in the ff series is hard i do remember ffvi when it first came out on the snes...it was a great game and it was the first rpg i picked up in ages since the nes days but then it was like sqauresoft left us...unless you spoke japanese we were final fantasy-less for a long time then came the ONE truly amazing rpg ff7 i think by far the best rpg ever made...it sported the best graphics in its timeline there were no truly boring parts in the game the materia system was pure genious and the story line was done in great fashion to finely fit the chars. and villans , the turks , rufus , the base structure of the reigning goverment shinra all posed a threat against you and music , the sweet soundtrack nuff said....

FFX is and always will be a great game , but seymour got old and you fight a " thing " at the end lmao its not very cool looking..he could have had at least some cool attack or somthing.

FF7 Forever.

I miss the characters in FF8, Rinoa, Squall, Irvine, Seifer, Zell, Quistis and Selphie were all pretty cool. No, they weer all extremely undeveloped, and all of them, excluding Squall and Rinoa, weren't given enough attention.

huge beautiful enviornments,an actually evil enemy, and 8 awesome characters being so open so unordinary, so unpredictable, so attachable, so perfect....??? Environments were the only good thing about FF9's graphics. Kefka was much more evil than Kuja. 8 characters sucked as hell. I HATED all of them. Unordinary? Well, yes, but I never wanter to play as a MONKEY, a MUTE PRINCESS, a moronic black mage, a untra-dumb knight in RUSTY armor, a RAT-woman, a 6-year old brat, a hell-knows-what-creature, and a non-talking red-haired bum, in the first place. Unpredictable? Ooh yeah. Sure. Garnet lost her vioce. HOW unpredictable! Attachable? No, I actually wanted to attach a pack of dynamite to their asses and send them flying to the stars forever. Perfect?! No.

I just found that FF's were always good. FF2, FF4, FFMQ were BAD. FF9, too.

In my opinion, Final Fantasy VII indeed is the best; Final Fantasy TACTICS being a close second. Final Fantasy VIII had many, many flaws - in storyline and characters; but I still liked it a lot, after all, the Junction system was really good. Final Fnatasy IX, on other hand, was by far the worst Final Fantasy for PlayStation. And of course, it is much worse then FF6.

I think FF7 beats them all. The only thing really bad about was the "blocky characters". Other than that, the FF7 storyline was awesome!
