Anyone ever seen/heard of this before? It's a short series consisting of 13 episodes in the first part and 27 in the continuation "Chronicles of the Heroic Knight". It had a D&D element to it, sorta. I've seen the first one, renting it at blockbuster, and have bought the second over the internet, should get it this weekend. Anyways, if anyone had seen it then tell me what you thought about it. Or if you have any questions about this and are interested in getting an answer then you can post it here and i can try to answer it to the best of my knowledge.

Or let's ask instead: Anyone who hasn't heard of this before? ;)
Lodoss is quite well-known, greatly popular all over the world, a classic. One of the first... well, the third manga I ever bought (Chronicles of the Heroic Knight, I liked it, but the ending was pathetic)...
There is more to Lodoss than just the 13-part OVA and the TV series (which isn't merely a continuation, but rather, an alternative).
Legend of Chrystania is another anime from the Lodoss universe...
There are several manga series of varying quality... Chronicles of the Heroic Knight, Deedlit's Story, The Grey Witch, The Lady of Pharis... probably more, but I'm not a walking encyclopedia.

And I'm not the Lodoss fan here, I should leave this all for Dave to answer. :P

Oh, its cool that this is more known then i had assumed. I thought it was some old one that not many had heard of since i found it around in the back of block buster. Anyways, i'll have to do more research on it then if there is more then the two parts.

I apperantly know the least about it then, so i have a question. How many series are there staring Parn and any of the other characters from the record of lodoss war series. Also, how many series have been made on this? What may help is if any one has a link to a good site that has alot of info on Lodoss series.

Meh, I've already espoused my hatred for Record of Lodoss War here, so I won't bother to do so again, but I hated it.

This is the first anime I ever got into, so I'm a pretty big fan even if a lot of battle footage is recycled. I bought the 6 VHS series about 5 years ago from blockbuster. I must admit I don't know much about it, but I have seen what seems to be a sequal to it in a DVD set at best buy for 80 dollars.

I just have to say Parn is very very annoying, but all the other characters are cool.

I agree with Misao on how i liked the Chronicals of the Heroic Knight but the ending sucked. Anyways, I finnaly finnished it and disided to look for a sequel over the internet. If anyone knows of one, if one's coming out, or if the writer croaked or some other situation where no other sequels will be emerging, then please post.

Then why did you already answer almost everything there is to know ? ;)

Well, look guys, as far as I know, like it or not, Lodoss is what's defining the "fantasy anime" standard right now. Depending on whether or not you're into that thing or not, it's a good or bad thing. You may bitch about the many clichs, but that's like bitchin' about the clichs in turn-based console RPGs.

As for you Vanga, the only animes that were released involving Lodoss were the OAV, Chronicles of the Heroic Knight and Legend of Crystania. As for the mangas, I don't really know more than Anna already said. Your best bet is trying to find out if Ryo Mizuno's novels ever got translated into English. That's the best story you could get.

Sorry. :)
I know I've seen scans from a Lodoss manga once, which looked absolutely beautiful. Sadly, I forgot the title, and cannot find it anymore. Anyone help me...?

And yeah. Lodoss is probably to fantasy anime what Lord of the Rings is to fantasy literature. The classic stuff. :P
