As for a television series idea of mine, if everyone wants more good, complex, thoughtful, ambitious creator-driven stuff on TV than what we've got on television these days...
If everyone deserves more creativity from anywhere, especially from television...
Then...
Here's what I'm gonna do.
After I complete my education at a college or film school like CalArts, Full Sail University or UMBC in Maryland (if I ever get accepted or apply there), then I might develop and create an animated cartoon TV series idea of mine called "The Princess of Shangara", which is something like 'a love child of Mulan and Samurai Jack' (metaphorically and essentially), for television.
Even if it's loosely based on and partially inspired by The Ballad of Mulan, a traditional Ancient Chinese folk tale and poem which tells of a Chinese girl who dresses as a boy to sign up for the army in an effort to save her elderly father from conscription, eventually becoming a hero, even if it shares a whole lot of things in common with, and will have all the traits of Samurai Jack all over it (especially the highly stylized outline-free masking-based Genndy Tartakovsky-style animation, the epic and highly cinematic style, split-screen wipes and close-ups as well as images shown in three vertical angles, the letterboxing, and even the very little use of dialogue), not only should The Princess of Shangara be a worthy successor to Samurai Jack, but it might hopefully be a good, worthy if more action-oriented (and epic and highly cinematic and highly stylized and creator-driven and noncomedic) replacement show for The Simpsons, once it ends its long run on the FOX TV network.
And once the Fox TV network might start looking for a replacement for The Simpsons when it does ends its long run, and in order for animation as the driving force for the FOX TV network to be up and running again, they might hopefully pick up my Princess of Shangara show and idea, hopefully airing it as part of their Sunday night block, Animation Domination, making it the first non-comedic animated series to do so for the FOX TV network.
And hopefully The Princess of Shangara might not only end up as among, or if not the highest-rated show on TV, and not only would it be up there with Samurai Jack as one of the two great action cartoons on TV, but also up there with The Simpsons as among the greatest ever TV shows, either live action or animated cartoon.
Not to mention, The Princess of Shangara show that might hopefully rescue the good, complex, thoughtful, ambitious creator-driven kind of TV cartoon show that includes Samurai Jack and Dexter's Laboratory but has now been devolved into the likes of Johnny Test and My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic.
I wish I could be given total, unprecedented and complete freedom by something like the FOX Broadcasting Company to make any show I want to make, as well as the opportunity to experiment. If so, The Princess of Shangara might be completely my vision; there might be little network interference from something like the FOX television network beyond some broadcast standards questions.
And if so, this might make The Princess of Shangara series one of the best examples of a creator-driven TV cartoon series since the days of Samurai Jack.
Hopefully, The Princess of Shangara might appeal to both kids and adults alike and not just females of any age, but males of any age as well.
So, what did you think?
