Me not either, APE is just the best lossless compression format out as of yet. (I know because I've tested all of them. APE cuts about 50MB of FLAC's file size at the expense of being slower to load. Then again if your after lossless, you should have the means to convert regardless.)
What about the image above, is that from what.cd too? If only the gates to that sacred place was opened to me... :(
Yeah better compression with slightly slower loading speed, that's how it is. While we're on this topic I just wanna say that personally I don't mind APE image rips. Yes they can be split tracks too of course, but on the web they're usually found in a single APE + LOG/CUE format, on asian forums that is. Better yet I like MKA format when everything is packed into one single file, so all metadata, track info, IDtags are in there. Pretty nifty stuff, it's like a separate container for each album containing all the goodies inside. It goes best with foobar2000 player. But that's just me.
As for the above picture with the discs, no it's not on What.cd, but that's probably because the stuff uploaded there is not the source of that VBR V0 rip, it must have came from some place else. And that picture was used as a proof of its legitimacy. This is a 'Scene' release, which basically means that the album was physically obtained and leaked prior to its official availability. Overall the term 'Scene' is kinda vague and can be understood differently under different circumstances, but that's my interpretation of it.
There was another case in recent memory with a Scene release of HALO 4 ORIGINAL SOUNDTRACK REMIXES, also VBR V0 at What.CD.
With this picture as a proof:

Now this was actually never released officially as of yet, and probably not going to be, but the picture shows that the rip was from original legitimate CDs. The tracklist on these 2 CDs is the same as HALO 4 OST: SPECIAL LIMITED EDITION (
http://vgmdb.net/album/34837), but the artwork for the discs in Limited Edition looks completely different. So yeah, scene is scene, and sometimes it can be more underground than private tracker releases.
And in regards to What - I can send you an invite, just make sure to maintain your ratio over there and you'll be good.
Hey MiL, just found Aggrotech in this album... the 2nd CD. XDXDXD
sometimes I feel so lame. XD
Good. Overall from both CDs I prefer the 2nd one much more to the 1st one, so it's likely to be listening to it more often.
