Happy Birthday to Me (Complete Score)
1981, NEW RIP!

34 unnamed tracks, TRT: 49:26, FLAC (24bit)

Note: this is a COMPLETELY NEW rip created from the new Bluray release from Mill Creek Entertainment as a double feature with the original 1979 cult classic, When a Stranger Calls (still unfortunately not in a 5.1 format to create a decent rip). They were gracious enough to include a DTS-HD MA 5.1 track for HBTM which made ripping this score MUCH MUCH easier than the stereo source from the Anchor Bay DVD ever was but that's not to say that the 5.1 track didn't introduce its own list of issues from the upconversion to 5.1 but nothing too substantial. The greatest benefit was being able to hear and present the score for the first time outside of the film in FULL STEREO versus the mono presentation of my original rip from 2011. Also, I was able to remove more SFX from this release that were previously impossible to remove from the original stereo source of the DVD. This release DOES still have SFX but it was a lot more manageable this go around and sounds PRETTY DAMN GOOD if I may say so myself. Rarely is it distracting, other times you simply won't notice it. About 95% of the release is (surprisingly) fairly clean while the others still have some unremovable SFX but, to repeat, nothing TOO substantial to raise many complaints. Before I continue, I must comment on the exceptional stereo soundfield this remix presents. It's rather expansive and effective; notable examples include the opening notes of Track 1 followed by the piano theme playing in the left channel while the strings play along with the theme in the right channel. The entire project was rendered in 48k/24bit Wave from the original 48k/24bit DTS-HD MA 5.1 track and mastered in 44.1k/24bit FLAC. I hope you all enjoy this as much as I enjoyed re-visiting it, hopefully for the last time because I smell an official album sometime down the line.

A note about the score is it's another case of "the score is lightyears better than the movie." The movie started out okay but I felt ran on for too long (near 2 hours) and kind of lost steam at some point throughout the proceedings. Let's just say I bet you won't guess that ending but then again by that point you may or may not care anymore. You'll marvel at the score though which fits the tone of the film like a glove and may even have you humming the haunting theme music all day. It's quite catchy and carries throughout the entire score. Also includes the song "Happy Birthday to Me" sung by Syretta which (through the 5.1 upgrade) sounds better than I think ever before.

Here's a link: https://mega.nz/#!gtcxDDyA!KqLLGQw0_T7gNxNSG2ivcdSTxYsImVRLpV-CWzqw0Cc. You're in luck that I still had this in FLAC. For some unknown reason, track 31 is MP3. Enjoy!
