For me, it's pretty much anything today. That's why I've been pretty distant from today's music as the scene isn't where it was in the 80s-90s time period. Even the names of today's bands/artists are ridiculous. I mean the ones who aren't using their real names. And this is just for the most part, I'm especially talking about the mainstream music scene.
Don't get me wrong. I'm sure there's a bit of mainstream music and mostly indie music that's still good. But being distant, never really heard any. Open to suggestions if anyone has. I listen to pretty much anything except country, blues, soul, jazz. Not much of a rap/hip hop fan. But I don't necessarily hate it.
But to narrow down to a name of the one of the worst songs I ever heard? I'll have to get back to you on this lol cause I've heard so many, it's gonna be tough to pick just one.

Also not a mainstream fan. It all sounds the same with being about "raising your glass" and "smoking funny things." I don't even listen to the radio anymore. I'm ALWAYS open to new full-on psytrance, electro, J-core and techno music in general though.

Actually the whole mainstream media sucks now. Sure, good movies still come along every now and then. But most suck and most are remakes or adaptions of some book or franchise/series. Nothing original. The Nolan was a great series. But there's been other Bat movies before so it's not really original in that sense. I enjoyed Avengers, but that's based on a comic book heroes. Where's the originality?
I mean, you need inspiration from somewhere, sure. But that doesn't mean you need to adapt a film out of something known or popular. Look at BTTF, E.T,, etc. I don't think they were based off of a movie or book.
I have NEVER ever listened to the radio again after a few weeks. I never owned a radio system at home and in the car, I paid attention to driving rather than what's on the radio. Things were overplayed. And it annoyed me when the DJ would still talk during the first or last few seconds of the song or in the middle of a song. I was like, "can't you wait till the damn song's over??!!!"

The whole soundtrack of Aladdin (Disney): Annoying and embarrassing.
About today's music, there's talented singers and bands but today's people (not everyone, of course) just care about what they see in TV and magazines, maybe if you keep searching for good music, you'll find it.

depends where you look. wont find it on the radio. but if you search spotify (or view other people's playlists), pandora or last.fm, you'll find some as I recently have. They're not mainstream music so that just makes them better. Mainstream sucks.
Today's music may be talented (not IMO) but they don't compare the the music from the past. 90s was the last decade of the best stuff mainstream media wise in my opinion as well as the opinions of many others. As for TV, can't remember the last time I watched. Haven't had cable since like 2008 when reality TV invaded/dominated most of TV. And magazines, don't really read em.

Any mainstream music from the past 10 years has been pure garbage in my opinion, I don't even count it as music! Aerosmith's "We All Fall Down" (from their latest album) comes to mind (and yes, Aerosmith are my favorite band xD), also never a fan of KISS, so I guess some of their material.

It's not just today's music that is "bad"; there has always been "bad" music. You just have to look hard for the good stuff.

Once Bitten, Twice Shy by Great White and UB40's version of Red, Red Wine.. There is yet to be an instrument invented that could measure the hatred I feel to those two songs. When I worked as a DJ I had to play those songs constantly.

Some of the worst songs ever are by Taylor Swift and that Brianna-or-whatever-her-name-is. Most artists just can't sing to save their lives. This is how I hear music now a days: take a mic and attack it to some sound device, plug in head phones, turn the volume up all the way, and just blow as hard as you can into the mic. Ouch. Now try to say something. Ouch again. That is what music is like nowadays.

No argument there. Except you have to look really, really, really, really, really hard to find the good stuff.

I agree. While the singer has this cool voice, it just get tiring after hearing "gundam style" for three minutes. And that Sue-Chang guys can't rap to save his neck at all. In my opinion, most female singers today just look slutty with too much makeup, and slutty body movements. I'm in the theatre business and you don't need to use as much makeup that they use to look good.
For a while, I liked Taylor Swift. Then one day I saw a TV program was on were different artists were singing. So I watched it. When Taylor Swift went on, I was shocked and changed the channel. All because of what she was wearing. Her pants had no crotch area, and she wasn't even wearing underwear. So yeah...that ruined my views on her.

It's a shame when you have good indie bands and when they get more press and mainstream attention, immediately their music now conforms to whatever seems to be mainstream. I almost solely listen to film, television and game scores to escape the consumer product that is pop music.
