OK, So I have made a few posts here in the past with some, How can I put it? Interesting recordings of TV and Film theme tunes. So I thought I'd create a thread where I can place all the, for the want of a better word, Musical pieces. Some of the links here will be from my other posts, but it will be good to keep them all in one place.
"Beware all who look below, for ye shall hear all manner of horrors"
Right, so I have warned you all, any complaints about going mad or blood coming from your ears are null and void, in other words, It's your own fault ;)
The London Starlight Orchestra plays The Untouchables and Other Movie Hits
Ah the delights of the London Starlight Orchestra, AKA A Close Call, Andromeda Project, The Broadway Stage Orchestra, Hollywood Studio Orchestra, The London Studio Orchestra, The New Star Orchestra, The Philippe L'Auran Royal Club Disco Stars, Space Magic, Star Inc., The Studio London Orchestra and may well they use these aliases, for the obvious reasons. I do not want to be done for slander so I will make the next statement "this orchestra a superb in their realisation of the musical masterpieces that they perform" ..... enough said. Check out the "Raiders of the Lost Ark March" a delight in anyone's books.

TELEVISION'S GREATEST HITS (Previously in it's own thread, but placed here for convenience)
OK, maybe not terrible, but certainly...err...an acquired taste. This disc contains possibly the Funkiest version of the Star Trek and Superman (TV Series) themes you'll ever hear and the most turgid version of Hill Street Blues. I'm don't know what Orchestra performed these pieces, and maybe it was a 13 year old in his bedroom on his Casio CZ1
If you like to hear different versions of classic TV themes then this is the disc for you. If you want to hear the themes as they should be then this is NOT the disc for you :D

BLOCKBUSTING THEMES (Previously in it's own thread, but placed here for convenience)
So do you want to hear John Williams ET theme played on a synth, Dirty Harry on a Fairlight, Halloween on a Casio? Well maybe not quite that bad ;). The orchestra on this CD is The London Theatre Orchestra. The only reference I can find on this band of merry minstrels is on LastFM who say:
"The London Theatre Orchestra are a British Orchestral group that concentrate on playing theme songs from a variety of well known films, shows or genres."
An interesting CD I picked up for 50 pence in a charity shop today. Hear these tunes as you've never heard them before. I have ripped this disc via dB Poweramp Converter as MP3 V0 at extreme quality (which is more than can be said about the content, I'm not selling this am I LOL)

Space Themes
OK Another Crappic...sorry... Classic album for you from those masters of music mayhem Double Play. Released exactly 17 years ago, this has to go down as a biggie baddy. Tracks 1 to 5 are your disco theme classics. Do you remember back in 1977 when Meco released the disco version of the Star Wars Theme? of course you do it hit number one on the Billboard Hot 100 on October 1, 1977 in the US and stayed there for 2 weeks, it even got to number 7 in the UK charts. Yes that's the one, do you remember how bad that was? Well you haven't heard bad. Listen to track 2 and that's bad.
In 1896 Richard Strauss, composed Also Sprach Zarathustra, little did he know that it would be turned into a disco theme 99 years later in 1995 as heard on track number 4. I'm sure if he'd been composing in 1995 this is how he would have done it!!!!
Track 5 is our first Star Trek outing on this little jem, and I can see the red shirts all boogieing on down to this little number. I'm sure I could hear Spock playing the Vulcan Lute or is that Vulcan Lyre in the background or maybe I'm just a liar ;)
Another mistake on this CD (apart form the mistake of actually releasing it), which I have reproduced so that you can experience the full crappiness of this release, is that they transposed tracks 6 and 7 so when you think you are listening to The Empire Strikes Back you are in fact listening to Battlestar Galactica. The Star Wars theme hear is truly heart chillingly bad. I would vote this as the worst version of the Star Wars theme of all time, unless you know different. If you do have an even worse one then please post a link in this thread:)
Track 8 is just brilliant. For a change the music is good... No really, I mean it. It is played really well. Even the singing is....passable...well sort of, but they have actually reproduced the the speech sound bites from the movie. These are pretty bad. The best bits are Dales lines, which are clearly spoken by a man then pitch shifted. I think flash will be in for a shock on his wedding night, as this Dale has something other woman do not have! LOL.
Track 9 says it's The Return of the Jedi, Personally I would have really titled this Luke and Leias theme as opposed The RotJ.
Track 10 is the Wrath of Khan. When it starts you think it could be a John Carpenter track, however, it soon bursts into life, and whizzes along at such a speed that you feel that the money in the studios electric meter was about to run out and they had to complete it in double quick time. As with the Star Wars theme I have to vote this the worst version of The WoK theme I have heard, go on..prove me wrong.... I dare you.
Track 11 is the Cantina band from Star Wars. There is something intrinsically wrong about this track, a certain discord between the instruments. I must admit this track makes me laugh. If you remember those 16bit games from your Mega drive or Atari ST, then this music will sound familiar.
track 12 is our third Star Trek offering "Star Beyond Time" and is not that bad to be honest. It is probably the best track on the whole album.
Track 13 brings the disco back again with "The Conversation" from Close Encounters. I think if those aliens had been played this they would have taken their sorry arses back to their home planet and told ET to stay at home.
Track 14 The Search for Spock....Yuk, just YUK!
Track 16 Is The Eve of the War from Jeff Waynes War of the Worlds, all I can say is I prefer this to his 2012 re-recorded version
Track 17 is the last Star Trek track and it's the funky disco version of the original series theme. If Phase Two had ever been produced then this should have been the theme.
The less said about the Yodas theme the better.
[COLOR="#FF0000"]So, happy 17th birthday Space Themes, next year you become an adult and we can send you to prison for your crimes against music.
