Has anyone heard about this game? The fact that the other three were scary as hell is nothing. The screenshots for the new Silent Hill already make the other 3 games look like baby stuff compared to the new one. I mean, whats up with the screenshot of people attached to picture frames by their skin? UGHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!! That sounds like something that Hannibal Lecter does!!!!

Yes, the next Silent Hill game always looks scary enough to make the others look like baby stuff. SH2 outdid SH... SH3 outdid SH2... and so on and so forth.

As for SH4... it does look pretty interesting, but if they don't change the gameplay a bit, then i wont play... i'm sick of playing the same game with different settings.

They're promising that this will be the darkest Silent Hill yet. I'm really hoping that this one will be a game that genuinely terrifies me, like Fatal Frame, and doesn't just put me in a general state of the creeps. And the premise sounds fantastic. I can't wait to find out more about it.

The game will sport all new gameplay mechanics. No more going to the menu to switch weapons. Now, there is a realtime weapon system. The game will be played in both First Person and Third Person. You will switch between the real world and the world of Silent Hill. The games creator also said that there will be other locations that the player will visit. All monsters are new. The game is much longer than Silent Hill 3(Thank God). So, from the looks of it, nobody will be dissapoitned with the next installment. At least, I hope.

Silent Hill 4: The room

Ive seen several movies of it and it looks pretty cool, same storylines as the other silent hills, except, longer- more gory- and lots more monster, shame its still only one person in the game you can play as..

True, but the new gameplay should make the gaming experience better. I mean, going to a submenu from a main menu just to change weapons is stupid. If you had to do that in Metal Gear Solid, then people would be complaining about that. I'm just ready to see how far they can push the limits.

They said it'll be longer than SH3? YES!!!

I love the game, but man...its always so damn short. I'd love for it to be a minimum of 20 hours. It does look pretty dark as usual, and they said they are going to quicken the pace a little. Hopefully not to the point of making it a full blown action game. :puppydog:

I would even like to see this game get an AO rating.

Well the game comes out sometime this year. I know for a fact that I'm gonna be keeping an eye out for it. I think it is going to be a very good game. I just want them to push the limits to where nobody has every thought of going in a game.

Loki

And they are going to do that by letting you switch weapons without a submenu? Expect pretty much the same Silent Hill with different story, setting, monsters.

I wasn't talking about that, but good point. I was actually talking about how I hope they push the limits by doing something extremely grotesque,or in short really nasty. Anyways, they need to think of something better than a dog that has been cooked(Silent Hill 3).

Well, each Silent Hill integrates a LITTLE bit of new gameplay mechanics. SH3 was the most advanced yet far.

SH2 introduced combining key items so you had to think if you could combine something.

But SH3 introduced a lot more. You could block with or without a weapon to lessen damage. You could hold x or tap it for quick hits or fast ones. You could also walk off and try to teeter the opposite way to avoid falling. It wasn't a revolution, but it sure as hell beats RE recycling the same crap over and over.

What I'm hoping for most, are the smart enemies that you had in SH1. They seemed to have more AI like in Metal Gear Solid.

I actually found the cooked dog kinda sickening myself. :( But I'm hoping they will not only push the envelope, they will break it completely.

I don't know what they could do, but the games creator has already shown that he can be creative in a sort of Hannibal Lecter kind of way. I wouldn't be suprised to see a character go so insane that they think as themselves as a monster and start eating other characters and monsters in the game.

Making a game more gross is not an innovation. Combining items is not an innovation. The fact is that Silent Hill has taken every gameplay idea they have had from another source. I wont deny that the game is creepy and at sometimes downright scary... but it's not innovative in the least.

Also If Konami has made as many Silent Hill games as Capcom has Resident Evil games... them rehashing the same gameplay ideas over and over would be more obvious. As it is, there is only three games, so although they pretty much are all the same, it is not as obvious as Resident Evil.

r those good games, then? ive been wanting to try them, but i cant rent them anywhere, ill have to order them or something.

i have just recently gotten into the whole survival horror genre, so i would definitely play sh4. even if it wasnt different from 3, cuz thats the only game that i would have to compare it to. however, i love the tomb raider games and they are all the same. so i would probably play sh4 even if i was a big sur-hor player.

I wasn't talking about those post,Loki. If you could bear with me......you know what,I'm not even gonna try. I don't think this conversation is going anywhere but into another argument.

I never said that making it grosser was actually more innovative. I consider it braver perhaps, to be as artistic as they want to be and not be afraid to make the most frightening game possible.

Also, I don't know it to be true or flase whether Silent Hill actually got its gameplay ideas off other games (so intentional or not) Silent Hill makes improvements from game to game in gameplay mechanics. Its the fact that they change more than graphics and story, they add things to the gameplay. Even if things like falling off things aren't neccessarily a unique general idea to videogames, in this game, the fact its so dark and hard to see and the knowledge you might actually fall takes it in a newer, and in fact, innovative direction.

All that truly matters is if you played the other 3, then you are going to play part 4 just to see how much better the graphics(and gruesomeness)is. That's a fact.
