I will go ahead and answer my own question. HELL YEAH!!!!!! Now, the rights to the game have been sold to Nintendo, but supposedly if a new Resident Evil is released on Nintendo, then it is possible it will be released on PS2. So, if you don't have a Gamecube and you want to play Resident Evil 4, there is still hope.

From what I checked out for Resident Evil 4 for GCN, I somehow really doubt that it'll hit PS2 if it requires that much graphical power.

Not unless it improves on its gameplay mechanics, originality, and dialouge. :(

From what I've been Gandalf, RE4 looks extremely different from any RE game thusfar.

Though I kinda don't like the idea of fighting hicks over Zombies...

Well, we can all just get ready to play Resident Evil:Outbreak next month,Right? The online play and co-op mode for that will keep me satisfied as long as the story holds up.

I don't think Online games were meant to have stories... and I don't think this particular has a story that is worth anything.

I don't see how the game is much different than on a graphical level. I haven't seen any gameplay previews, nor any news of any actual gameplay improvements. :(

The thing is... if you want to play resident evil that bad... a gamecube is only $99... just buy one of the little guys.

Loki is right. To me, the Gamecube version is better. But, if you wanna talk about which one was the best then the original on the Playstation was the best because without it there would be no Resident Evil at all.

- Here are some new images of Capcom's Resident Evil 4 / Biohazard 4 for GameCube, the producer mentioned that all previous scenes shown were scraped, the story and details were totally reworked.

- Game Informer has revealed new details on Capcom's GameCube survival horror adventure game Resident Evil 4 / Biohazard 4:

Appearance:

The game can be played in first person view and two other view perspectives.
RE4 supports 16:9 widescreen (which is mandatory) and 480 progressive scan. When the game is played on a regular screen, there are black borders on top and bottom.
When the game plays in 3rd person view, the main character Leon stays in the far left side of the screen, making it like playing a first person shooter.
The controls remain the same in the series, but the health and ammo indicators will be onscreen.
The entire world is in full 3D, there are no open door animation and pre-rendered cutscenes, all scenes are rendered in real time.
Background Story:

The story of RE4 takes place in 2004, six years after the incident of RE2
The Umbrella Corp and the zombies have disappeared
Leon is appointed by the president to guard his daughter, but before he takes the job, she has been kidnapped and taken to a village in South America, where all villagers are in an eerie trance, trying to hunt down Leon.
The enemies will react to their body wounds, e.g. shooter the enemy's foot will make him hobble.
The villagers are armed with weapons such as sickles, axes, pitchforks and other sharpen objects, and they have intelligence like in Sony's SIREN. For example one may pretend running away, luring you into his traps.
It is possible to shoot an object thrown at you with the right timing.
There is an action button which serves for different purposes, such as moving objects, kick the enemy and keep the enemies in distance.
There are certain levels that are in complete darkness, you can only rely on moonlight illumination on the villagers.
There are gigantic bosses who can catch Leon and hurl him through the air.
Leon will have a sniper and hand gun as weapon.

PS2 graphics are just as good as Gamecube graphics. It's just that Playstation Resident Evil games don't concentrate as much on graphics as they do on new gameplay mechanics. Gamecube does have the best looking Resident Evil game though.

For what I have read (this is going to sound dodgey now, but I'm not sure where I read the article......some RE fansite I think) Resiident Evil 4 will be coming out on PS2. This move is mainly for Capcom as a whole, because if Capcom want to have other successful releases on the PS2 and future Sony consoles they are going to have to release RE4 on PS2, because the RE franchise is easily Capcoms biggest title.

So anyway this is what I have read, but its still early stages so don't rely on what I have said OK?

Actually... from what the Gamecube has presented and what the PS2 has presented, the Gamecube wins in terms of displaying graphics. The PS2 even has trouble comparing to the DC in graphics, the DC is somewhat slightly better than the PS2, surprising or not you tell me.

I think you're being abit quick to compare really. Just look at MGS2 and the previews for MGS3, I'd love to see a DC produce graphics like that....what am I saying? It can produce graphics like that! But I don't think any company brought out a game on DC that can compare to the graphics on MGS2 and 3.

I renew my statements....

The same game with a new gameplay STYLE but the same abundantly brain dead game mechanics disguised with extremely good graphics. :(

OK, I'll make my answer more obvious.

Do I want it back on PS2: NO.

Yes I do. Resident Evil is one of the worst series of video games I've ever played and I hate seeing it taint my favorite system.

Personally I want Resident Evil to properly return to the PS2, but for reasons unlike TK's. I like the Resident Evil series, it has quite an exciting storyline, and one which I intend to persue futher.

But if RE doesn't return, then I guess we've still got Silent Hill. :) (Which in my opinon is better than Resident Evil)

I agree with Diorama. I want the series to come back to the Playstation console because I enjoy playing it. They just need to add some new monsters.

I really don't need to buy one because I have a brother that owns one, so I can just use his. But, I'd be willing to buy a Gamecube if I had to. I ain't got no problem with Nintendo.
