I really wish you wouldn't use the term "symphony", cause no compilation ever is (neither is e.g. Howard Shore's Lord of the Rings "Symphony", also just a compilation, but at least it's not drivel like the Zimmer/Howard "Batman" """"""Symphony""""""). The selections themselves are ok, although they include too few of his pre-1980 real(!) masterpieces, too many of the more streamlined, altogether lazier post-1982 works (but some of the better of those).

Yeah, I especially think any Goldsmith compilation needs to have his earlier works to be any good. Some of his best scores were in the 60s and 70s.
