Why? All the game involves is going around and blowing the crap out of stuff? It gets dull and repetitive after an hour or two. I respect your opinion for saying that it's your fave game, but why do you think that?
For me, it's Morrowind. The game was an absolute masterpiece from beginning to end. The world was huge. Absolutely huge. There was SO much to do. You're weren't restricted to doing the main story, you could do as much or as little of it as you wished. You have two expansion packs opening new horizons, new weapons, new enemies, you have so many weapons and stuff to choose from, and you have thousands of characters to interact with who can offer you a new branch of the world to explore.
I loved the game from the moment I picked it up to the moment I put it down. I spent hours sat in my room "organising my inventory." It's a definite game to play if you enjoy first person RPGs. Give it a whirl, even if you just borrow it. It's good.
Over to the rest of you. :)
Morrowind came really close for but i found it repetitive in some bits, and Vice City is the only game that has kept me hooked for as long as FF, i got over a year ago and i'm still playing it. it's great for short spells and what keeps u hooked isn't really the killing and tsuff but all the crazy stuff u can do with cars and bikes, there's so much stuff u can jump over and off and just random stuff that comes into ur head. it may be about killing but it''s a very free and open ended game, it gives the player total freedom and let's them do their own thing for hours
I find it funny BZ that you question his choice of GTA: VC but then say that Morrowind is great because
The world was huge. Absolutely huge. There was SO much to do. You're weren't restricted to doing the main story, you could do as much or as little of it as you wished.
Which is pretty much exactly why GTA is great also.
I have so many favorite games... none of them being FF by the way... that I cannot just post one... so i will post many
Metal Gear Solid
Zelda: Ocarina of Time
Soul Calibur
Mario 64
Goldeneye
That'll do for now.

I wasn't questioning his choice, more I was wondering what his reason for his choice was... Now he's stated his reasons, I appreciate why he likes the game so much.
That's what I like reading. The reasons why people think games are so good. That way, it might persuade me to go back and try them again if I think they're not that great. ;)

Anything Legacy of Kain is just awesome.
Metal Gear Solid.
Ace Combat 4
Gran Turismo 3 A-Spec.
Sacrifice (for those who don't know, you're missing a lot).
The first Super Smas Bros. was good ol' mindless fun.
Aliens vs. Predator 2 for PC was cool as hell, too.
Legend of Legaia.
Star Ocean 2
Legend of Dragoon was a refreshing change from standard RPG battle engines, timing the button presses to execute combos and all.
Robotech: Battlecry.
Oh, and Zone of the Enders: The Second Runner.
Games definitely worth checking into, I know I got my money's worth out of them in playing time.

I would normally have said Metal Gear Solid...
But Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic has stolen my heart.
Halo deserves an honourable mention, too.

I liked Morrowind too, though i never got too far in it. I think it would have made a fairly good Online game if they had done so because of the large world and the main story line that you don't have to follow. Again, i never really got far at all with this game but i liked what i did get done before my short attention span for game playing sadly kicked in.
how could i foget to mention Halo! to self: fricken idiot!

Heroes of Might and Magic 3. That is by far the best game I've ever played, just doing all the campaigns will take well over 60 hours. But it's when playing multiplayer that this game really shines, my friends and I have been playing this game for more than 4 years now and we never tire of it. It's truly a shame Heroes 4 was so bad.
Honorable mentions go to Metal Gear Solid and Castlevania:SOTN, I think I've played through that Castlevania more than any other game, and there is one quote in MGS that sums up why I like that game so much "You like Castlevania, don't you?"
I've played Sacrifice and it was really fun for the first 5 missions but after that the dificulty was just too much for me.

For those who know my obsession well, the greatest game of ALL TIME is Breath of Fire IV. The fact that you can see things through the villain's perspective. Great battle system, great story, music, everything.
Then Capcom ruined the series with Dragon Quater.

By far, I have to say the Madden series. It just keeps getting better and better every year. And if sports aren't included, then the original Resident Evil(Playstation version), because that game introduced everybody to what we gamers now know as real survival/horror.

No... Alone in the Dark did that... about 4 years before Resident Evil. Also, the first resident evil was a terrible game.

Metal Gear Solid (the predecessor is better because of 0% Raiden)
Super Smash Bros. (I dominate with Fox and I've had about 4000 wins in versus mode)
I haven't played much of Halo but I love it. I can't see how anyone can hate it.
Advance Wars 2 (I prefer it over Final Fantasy Tactics Advance because the battle pace is faster and it's ULTIMATELY harder for mainstreamers to beat. I'm an exception because I have nearly mastered it.)

METAL GEAR SOLID. 'Nuff said really. GTA: Vice City certainly doesn't deserve to be considered one of the best games of all time, as it uses practically the same game engine as GTA3. So, GTA3 is the unique one. That has gotta be one of my favs. I also love TES3: Morrowind, and I have a thing for Counter-Strike these days.

Although GTA3 was the unique one... Vice City was a noticable upgrade introducing better music, adjusted gameplay, and above all motorcycles. This made Vice City an overall better game than GTA3, and thus, if GTA3 must be concidered, Vice City should be also.

Both of the GTA games (for ps2) were good. I personally like dark alleys than flashing pink neon signs so 3 has my vote there. But the other great ones were all of the Gran Turismos, Parasite Eve, All the Tony Hawk games, Devil May Cry, Enter the Matrix, all the Metal Gear Solid games and I think Need for Speed Underground was a good sports game.

Okay... if you were talking about Resident Evil for GCN, I would understand and go against Loki's opinion.....
But if you're talking about the PSX version...
Something is missing in your head.
Anyways, I think that the Phantasy Star series was a good bunch of games for it's time. I give it high points!

Metal Gear Solid simply because it's storyline is so in depth, complex, and intricate. I had a hard time figuring exactly who the patriots were, and then finding out Ocelot is the son of The Boss was really surprising. MGS4 is Outer Heaven 2 supposedly but I wonder who sends Snake in again, the Patriots? Seems like Snake is still being used as a pawn.

There are a whole lot of potential picks... but my all-time favorite game would be Shining Force III. And I mean all of it, not the truncated Scenario 1 that Sega deigned to translate.

Chaos Legion was fun on that difficulty where everything dies in one hit. It's harder than DMC3's version in that you don't have guns, and the only projectile attacks you have suck complete balls.

You make it seem as though FF is the best series of all time.
Yeah, he's right but this IS a final fantasy forum so you should expect the thousands of registered members here to be FF freaks. As for me, I'm a "Tales of.." freak...yeah, good old fashioned 2D "tales of" gaming has done what FF couldn't do to me and that's turn me into one of their loyal fans. FF is too overrated, plus, it's turn based system kinda sucks. People should realize that there is a much "bigger" world out there than FF...like Vice City or San Andreas...he he he:-P
Oh yeah, other games that rocked...
Megaman X series
Megaman Zero series
Chaos Legion
Skies of Arcadia
Sonic Series
Wario Ware (try it and you'll never let go of ur GBA!)

The original Pokemon game will always be the best, and Windwaker is the only Zelda game I have completed. Better then the other Zelda games.

Take that back about Zelda Twilight princess was awesome and I have played all but the orignal Zelda and Zelda II to finish.
As for the Best non FF series I like the Resident Evil series espically 4 nothing wrong with poping zombie heads for fun and profit.
But best RPG goes to Legend of Dragoon it was extremly well done and had a nice uique combat system though I can never master the Dragoon physical attacks always seem to be just too fast by a hair to get a perfect.
