Thanks pabstbr!

Giving it a second listen....

Laughing over my Grave - Smoldering feel during the verse, fits the lyrics very well. Kinda wish they added a fourth verse or an instrumental solo in the middle.

The Big Green - Groovy, the vocalist reminded me of Merv Griffin singing in "The Screemin' Meemies from Planet X".

The Whip - Ha ha! :)

Great stuff!

A compilation series of horror score tracks to get you in the mood

Wow, great set! Always liked the music from the 60s-70s scores and this horror set is a treat!

I feel like I keep listening to these and I'll sprout wings out my back or get cat eyes or something!

The final post for this year's SPOOKY SPOCK-TOBER is THE FILM MUSIC OF HANS J SALTER. This double LP is mentioned in a different thread, but I wanted to make sure you creepy compadres knew about it. This is a private release from the 1970s.

Here's the post:

Perhaps due to cold and rainy weather, we had only 23 trick-or-treaters last night. Our biggest night was 1995, when we had 109. Yes, I keep track!

While I waited patiently, I had THE GIANT CLAW going on the old viddy. So much cheesiness! Actually, if not for the poor fx of the giant antimatter bird, this would be a passable 1950s movie!

Happy November to all!

I intended to make a mix for sure every year until I tap out my collection but I'm not close yet. In fact I'm still hoping for some more activity in the thread! If any of you have some of the older shares from years past that are now defunct, please consider blowing the dust off and sharing!

Some notes on this year's participants! Thanks everyone! :tyson:

! Rest In Pieces Vol 9 - the insurgent

The Cave - Julie and Jimmy.....These two must be a lot of fun if they go to the mall and lose sight of each other....

Spooky Music (Part One) - Amazing how this solo organ riff is instantly recognisable and sets the Spooky mood.

Grave in the Desert - An unusual plot. Very forlorn imagery!

Ghost of Smokey Joe - Cab Calloway and his band easily make Spooky/Diabolical sounds. I feel (with no proof) there may have been verses to this song left on the cutting room floor due to the social mores or censors of the time... That line about Smokey Joe and his ties to Haiti is just begging for more exposition....

Loch Ness Monster - Nice open. Are we talking Nessie or Godzilla? Nice to hear a reggae tune go Halloween.

Ghost in the Graveyard - Popeye is that you talking over the singer? :)

! Sixties Shock Session - msuperfan

The Cave - Wow, it's the year of The Cave! I could dig an instrumental version.

Dracula - "She is a Dracula!" Hehe, why be just a generic vampire when you can be a Brand Name *TM* monster like Dracula.

Dracula Cha Cha - Wow, a Halloween cha cha!

The Monster Miss - Almost like a beatnik Halloween poetry reading while a rock and roll group plays backup.

Haunted Castle - Followed by an Spooky instrumental with an almost surf beat.

Two Souls - A toe-tapping metaphysical rocker. Early Rolling Stones-esque.

The Addams Family Theme - IMO they beat the Munsters in every category (including theme song! ...although theirs isn't bad).

Igor's Cellar - Pretty good rocker although a bit heavy with the effects.

Sleepy Hollow - Very haunted vocals and hit just the right tempo.

The Maddest Story Ever Told - A fun call back to cult movie Spider Baby. RIP this year Sid Haig who was in this along with Lon Cheney Jr.

I'll check in with notes on potzorbies 3(!) album share soon! :neg::neg: The witching time approaches! :itsamystery::itsamystery::itsamystery:

and part 2........

! Night Of The Sounds To Trick Or Treat To - potzorbie

Phantasm - Great opening track! Spooky, epic and cinematic. Portends a great album to follow. :)

The Skeleton Dance - Everyone has seen this early Disney short, sadly Disney seems to distance themselves from this kind of material these days.

Dracula's Theme - Ghostly track; sounds like The Ventures in a haunted house. Spooky Psychedelic Lounge genre. Wow! Right in my wheelhouse, great share.

5000 Years Ago/Newscast - Mostly an ambiance track. Tragic and melencholic.

Love in the Cemetery - Halloween Calypso! Great to hear distant genres from Halloween represented. A well developed scenario in the lyrics as well.

Nighmare - Artie Shaw takes us through the veil to parts unknown. Very mysterious.

Mysterioso - Another journey through mystery. Could be exploring an unknown planet surface in a 50s atomic monster movie.

The Haunted Organ (From "The Ghost and Mr. Chicken") - Many spooky organ tracks thoughout the album, this one caps them off. :)

! Dawn Of The Sounds To Trick Or Treat To - potzorbie

L'alba Dei Morti Viventi (Alternate Take) - Another great track to open with. An Overture for the Damned!

Fear - The Ventures make an authentic appearance! Haunting!

I Hear Voices - I'm not too familiar with Screamin' Jay Hawkins but he sounds like a challenging vocalist to capture his live "presence" to recording, especially considering the technology of the era. But I think they did a good job! Adding some echo and giving him some distance from the mic. I like the tune too, just the whispering voices could have been better.

Nightmare Strut - Aptly named because it's a funky jam spook track.

Love Me, Dracula - Dracula groupees wail from the Disco floor. Complete with the legit Disco playtime (6:55)! Amusing to hear genres that are almost antithetical to Horror delve in.

Horrorscope - Deep Space dread from the Outer Reaches filters down through funky radio transmissions.

Where Evil Grows - Sounds like a song sung by an dark alternative Partridge Family twisted along the lines of Addams Family/Munsters. Interesting lyrics and song!

Jabberwock - Wow, tough lyrics to put a song too. Crafty Brits did it tho.

The Spook - Ghostly rocker. Another that could be labeled Spooky Psychedelic Lounge.

House of Horrors - 80s or 90s movie sound to this one. Nice Track! I'd appreciate some info on who/what this is?

Born on Halloween - Halloween themed post disco funk along the lines of Earth Wind and Fire, Commodores, Brothers Johnson etc... Amazing such a thing exists!

Castin' My Spell - Whisical folk novelty song about magic, but fun.

Laughing Over My Grave - Smoldering tempo. If the laughing banshee wasn't hamming it up it'd have been pretty chilling. Still good.

Yatsuhakamura (Eight Village Grave) - Another Spooky Psych Lounge!

! Day Of The Sounds To Trick Or Treat Too - potzorbie

Beetlejuice - Iconic theme from the enjoyable horror/comedy mashup.

Freaks Come Out At Night - 80s rap goes red light district.

The Skeleton in the Closet - Something very relaxing about music like this plucking away. Funny intro banter.

Blues For Dracula - (In Dracula voice) Drink...... We must all drink... :):P

He's Back (The Man Behind The Mask) (Movie Mix) - Alice Cooper of course makes a showing!

Hollow Hills (Rejected Album Mix) - Very 80s sound. Angsty and Forlorn. I can picture the performers in Goth attire/looks, haha.

TerrorVision - I need to watch this one. The lyrics seem to describe a monster unique to this movie.

The Whip - Hehehe. Classic.

It's Monster Surfing Time - Ride the curl and keep your mask on!

Draculena - Voted spookiest pronunciation of "Louisiana".

Engine Room Drone - Meanwhile, back aboard the Nostromo....

!! Great shares potzorbie! All good but if wanted to pick my current favorite I'd say it's always darkest before the DAWN!

Anyhow Happy Halloween everyone!!:zilla::zilla::zilla::169::169:

This year we had 43 brave souls in 40-degree weather (counting kids but not their escorts). That's our highest number since 2013.

(What … you mean EVERYBODY doesn't keep count of Trick-or-Treaters?)

I can only hope that the newer families in our neighborhood with younger kids will continue this great trend. Remember, the kid to whom you give candy this Halloween is the kid who in ten years won't steal your car! Connections are important.
