I have a THEORY. Most Final Fantasy's have crystals. In final fantasy 9 u travel to the crystal world and find an all powerfull crystal that has created whole worlds. Are all FF created by this crystal? Is it possible that they are linked? Although they havn't been mentioned in 7, 8, 10 perhaps they were still created by this crystal. It would explain a lot, like why chocobos, summons, and spells are in most of them and why they are slightly different. The crystal changes it slightly. It all traces back 2 the crystal, not all of the FF characters know it.

I want to know if anyone else thinks that this is possible. That it could be a single huge Fantasy.

Teknori, don't flame. You sound like a dick.

Kas'Mar, as for your theory, i'd suggest that the Crystal is just one of FF's recurring themes - a prominent one, but nothing that actually ties the worlds together. Other such themes include Chocobos, Moogles, and Cid...

About the only FFs which I think could be tied together are FF Tactics, FF Tactics Advance, and Final Fantasy XII - and only very loosely. See my theory here (http://forums.ffshrine.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=11149) for more info.

Well, er, the idea isn't inconceivable... I just don't see it as being relevant. Even if all the FFs were linked through this crystal it has absolutely no relevance to anything that happens in the games. So. I'm struggling to care, really. :(

damn you kas'mar, you edited your post to make me look like an ass! well at least i don't sit by an annoying little lepprecon in math class (joe) hehe, anyway, i never dissagreed with your theory, im just saying that you have no proof, not that i have proof about it being false either, but i have more proof than you, considering that the crystal wasnt mentined in those few ffs. show me proof! cuz so far, its not very convincing

Every game also has water in it.

in the original Final Fantasy they used Orbs.... it wasn't until the Playstation remake they changed them into Crystals...

I think i may have found the answer... but i dont know whos side im proving... but anyway, if omega/omega weapon appeared in all ffs, it proves kas'mars point, if not, then it proves mine. According to final fantasy unlimited (ff anime series for those of you who don't know) Omega is made from the crystal, therefore, if he is only in the games with crystals in them, then the omega/crystal theme that is given in ffu is quite possibly correct, therefore proving my point....or just causing yet another arguement.....whatever. if omega appeared in all ffs, and the ffu theme is correct, then kas'mar is right, thought you should know.

Ok, I'm clearing things up right now. NONE of the FF's are linked beyond reoccurring themes, as ExS said. Just because some FF's have similar enemies, or other aspects that are similar, doesn't mean the two stories/worlds have anything to do with each other.

hmmm...I see your points. Its just something I wish was possible.

Do you mind if I ask why? One of the reasons FF has continued as long as it has is because the worlds aren't tied together - so the development team can be completely original every time.

In the beginning, the worlds didn't offer much room for expansion - now that we are starting to get large worlds, one game isn't enough to cover all the territory. Which is why we are seeing Final Fantasy X-2, VII: Advent Children and possibly the XII-Tactics tie-ins.

But still, I think Square-Enix should continue its trend of creating new worlds - creativity marks a great company.

there really is no connection between the games, yes... but the original games all seemed to take place on earth, i'm not sure if this was changed on the ps remakes?

no, i've actually played the first game for nes, when you open up the menu it showed actual orbs... in the remake they were changed to crystals... even on the front cover of the original it showed an orb
