Hey everyone,
recently I had some files in my MediaFire account, and they've been getting suspended. All of them have been soundtracks from Nintendo, and I've been uploading them onto my site for others. Unfortunately, many of the files have been suspended for copyright violation. I'm just wondering if I'll be in any "legal" trouble for this. And I also want to know if it's common for this to happen around here. Thanks for the help!

Mediafire has been on a deletion binge lately. Curiously, it started around the time filecrop.com started to open its search engine (that previously worked for RS, MU and Hotfile to Mediafire. My guess is that filecrop had located your mediafire files for its search engine, and mediafire, knowing that filecrop is mainly used for "piracy", blocked or deleted the files.
that or you've been reported. it can also happen. it also depends on how your files were named and if they were password protected.
As for the "do I risk something", I don't really know. best guess: no. VG music is already a niche market, not a billion dollars worth industry. i'll go on a hunch and say you're not really on the line. unless you made money out of it (which most probably ain't the case).
After that, it depends on the copyright owners and the law of your country.

Has anyone on these forums been caught in any legal trouble?

I don't think so.
So have received DMCA notices (like me), a few may have received some Cease and Desist notices, but I don't think anyone got in any legal trouble.

Unless you are actually making money off of the downloads you can't get in any legal trouble as far as i know. If you are posting the music for free the worst thing they can do is suspend your account after repeated warnings.
I honestly think if you can provide proof that you bought a cd that you should be able to freely share it with whoever you like.
