I was wandering what do other ppl use to draw their stuff. Not trying them all out, it's hard to say which is the best for ones style, so I think this will be helpful for everyone if you are kind enough to post.

I personally use normal print paper, ( I have sketch paper too, but I rarely use it, dunno why... maybe cuz it makes a lotta mess O_O) mechanical pens 05/ 07/ 1 with 3h/hb/b/b2 mines , normal pencilss 2h-8b, that watchmacallit weird rubber, a normal ink pen with Pelikan black ink. I also have a set of 96 color pencils, but until I find a way to make them look smooth I won't even think of using them.

Hmhm.. I usually use a 2b or 4b pencil, but I've got a hb mechanical pencil for thin lines and comics, stuff like that..
I use a black trias marker for tracing the lines, and sometimes color with either color pencils or markers.. Usually I CG drawings on the computer with Adobe, though ^^;
I really want colored trias markers, but those are pretty expensive X_x

I have sketch paper, and I occasionally take paper from art class :p That's thicker then the paper I use, and better for drawing realistic art ^_^

I use a mechanical pencil.^^ People say that it's hard to draw good pictures using mechanical pencils but they are wrong! Pictures aren't determined by the pencil, but by the artist. If you give someone who can't draw a good pencil, that someone will still not be able to draw very well. I love mechanical pencils because you don't have to sharpen them constantly. It takes one single click for fresh lead to come out. I love my mechanical pencils, especially, because they feel so right in my hands.

As for paper, I draw in my sketchbook, but I can draw on anything, basically. For the manga I'm going to be starting on soon, I'll be drawing on loose paper. Just normal paper will do fine. I can make good use of those scrap paper at home too, since I'll only be drawing on one side of the paper.

A nice piece of paper can make your art look nicer, but it doesn't make you better. Neither does using a different pencil. My drawing never changes, but I just prefer mechanical pencils because they are easier, and my sketchbook because... it's a "sketchbook".

megalomania you're totally right. i too use mechanical pencils on all my drawings, and for some i just draw with a pen. I usually use computer paper, and a lot of in-school sketches are done on lined paper, of course..

however, i discovered those huge fat kindergarten pencils are VERY good for shading....just an odd tidbit there !

i've used various 'art' pencils, but still i go back to the mechanical pencils, all the time....

A 0.5 mechanical pencil, two brushes (size 3 and 6), old-school ink pen with a few bottles of cololored ink, charcoal and watercolors.

As for paper, I use normal print paper for sketches and a thicker one for inking (dunno what it's called).

I think what you use is perfect, ya got all you need really, to use other material ya'll need technique, you either take a course or find some other way to learn like books or someone who knows, but without that it ain't a good idea to try other material. I myself have a very hard time using color crayons, it's true them beeing "Caran D'Ache" helps a lot cos they're very smooth and the colors mix easily, but still it'd help a lot if I learned some technique. The easyest thing is really the graffite leads for mechanical pencils.
I only use mechanical pencils with 0,5 HB leads for sketches and 2B leads for painting. for huge drawings I use regular pencils but I could use a 1 Mechanical pencil instead.
Paper... it's best to use thick paper for dark drawings but printer paper works good enough.:D

<FONT SIZE="2" COLOR="#113399" FACE="mirror">I use a 0.5 mechanical pencil almoast all the time, my art teacher says they arent good but they work way better than moast pencils. a solid grafite pencil...like even the wood is grafite. regular pens...bic...what have you...I. also the white type of eraser. i have some cone pencils but they are the smugest things in the world..lets see. oh yes...the best thing..pigment pens. 0.1 0.3 0.5 and 0.7 hell they are the best things in the world...if your a good artist and want to make rely clean pics. this is for you...

thats about it...</FONT>

Is a mechanical pencil a Pacer? If so, I use a typical 0.5 mm. I usually use a 2B and a 4B pencil, 2B for the overall picture and a 4B for shading. As for the paper, just typical A4 paper, fresh from the packet. But it doesn't really matter to me, anything that is available and is paper, I use. But that's only if I'm at school :D

To make the vague picture I use a graphite pencil.
Then I'll use a mechanical pencil to define whatever needs defining.
The I rub out any confusing lines that don't need to be there.
I ink it out with just one of those nicko pens, and rub out the rest of the lines.
Thare you have it!
The scetch books I've used tend to vary in paper a lot. Sometimes I'll get a great one, and when I get one of them again, it ends up soaking up ink like there's no tomorrow.
Wierd!

I'll state my question again, is a mechanical pencil a pacer?

What's a pacer? A mechanical pencil is just a one of those typical pencils that you would use in math. It doesn't require sharpening because you can get fresh lead by clicking the top or the tip of the pencil.

I use alot of different media to make my pictures...most of the time just pencil, sometimes ink, watercolor I find is fun, pencil crayon works well, and more recently the computer for rendering. Really just what ever I feel like working with at the time.

I use 2HB pencils, different kinds of pens, and computer paper (i got a big box filled with it so's i use that;))
At school when i'm bored or finished with my school work, i'll draw on my note book paper or get a piece of computer paper. I used to use mechanical pencils alot, but i haven't gone to the store to get more lead; i'm to lazy, lol o_0
In art class, i might 'borrow' a few sheets of paper and use that when i draw.
As for coloring, i use crayola colored pencils. I don't use markers that much because it sometimes smears. i never use crayons, i don't like those at all >_<
For my birthday i'm gonna get more stuffs to draw on and with ^_^
