Up until just this week, I was unable to upload anything to Peeje. All I got was an error message that admin would not get back to me about. Last night though, I was able to load, and upped 7 files. This morning, when I logged in, it showed I had no files uploaded. WTF? Anyone have an idea on this? It seems like a pretty decenthost, and I'd love to be able to use it.

Would you provide a link to test? Lately I had a similar problem, but I thought it was an isolated incident, or just a "no slots available" issue.

No link to provide, they are gone. I had not posted anything, I uploaded them and went to bed. Today, thee are no files to post. :(

The most I can tell you is that it happened to me a while ago. Additionally, the "No slot available" is more like a permanent message, so I'm thinking bottom line: unfortunately Peejeshare is no longer a reliable hoster. I think Mediafire could work as long as you use the [non-related filename+password+encrypted filename] setting. At least has worked for me.

MF is ok, I like it. But my entire account was deleted for violation of TOS, since someone reported all my links. I am using it again, but it keeps stalling during the upload of larger files. (140mb +)

Well, I'm still wondering which could be a reliable filehost to upload... If anyone has a suggestion, it would be nice.

I hope Peeje hangs around - I think if it gets too big that will kill it. As I said, nobody heard of Peeje until MU died. Now suddenly it's Peeje or nothing. Now is not a good time to be a file host. Now is definitely NOT a good time to put 100% trust in a brand new filehost who sprang up out of nowhere and seem too good to be true...

Folk who are putting all their eggs in Peeje's basket... I think, will end up very angry, very soon.

I'm enjoying it while it lasts - but I won't count on it for links I'd like to last a while.

Wise words from a sage gentleman, March 1st 2012... ;)

I don't think it was anyone that reported the links.
MF has been on a crusade to take down high-traffic-volumed files.
Or I think even just high traffic in a single account.

I would suggest for any new uploads to add a recovery volume.
In WinRAR you can add up to 10% recovery data.
I suggest picking an odd number and random each time. 5 one time, 6 the next, 9 and so on.

Each upload you had taken down is probably scanned and its CRC/MD5 hash is stored in a database to be used in the future for any uploads on any website.

There's a new method employed by some filehosts that will scan the files (without opening them) for their CRC/MD5 hashes and run them against a list of known CRC/MD5 hashes. Anything found matching will be flagged as piracy.

I can't find the original website I was reading up on this.
But some of the larger file hosting/cyberlocker/cloud storage sites are starting to employ this new service.
It's not easy to google.

Googling any of those words results in garbage.
Oh google.

MF is indeed doing this now. When you upload something you get "scanning" which is the comparison. If the checksum has been reported in the past, your file gets flushed out of hand.

Fortuitously it's reasonably easy to get around. All you have to do is add something or take something away from the archive. Sparktank's method is a stroke of genius but it *does* cause up to 10% bloat.

You can achieve a similar result by creating a text file in Notepad, typing some random shit, and adding that to the archive. No real size increase, but you've messed up their checksum and your file passes through. Repeat as necessary.

I think there's some software out there that can modify the checksums.
Have not tried them.

You can also look up books or poems that are public domain and just copy a page to a text file, if you have writer's block~

Actually, I prefer that option - if you're going to put something in the archive, it might as well be something worth reading.

"asdhaksjdhzsdjkfgbskjerfhioweduhf2347857389456@@@" doesn't quite have the same impact as, say, a page of Shakespeare...

I was using Gamefront up until last weekend, files would upload, but when i'd go to my account, it states file not available, past uploads work, new ones won't.

I was using Peeje too, but the past few uploads go all the way to 100% uploaded, but when i got to my account, theres no sign of the upload.

I started using Mediafire today, fingers crossed that keeps working.

Gamefront was by far the fastest servers i've used, hope they iron out the bugs.

and it's all in the public domain :D

Vobile, that's the name of the new digital 'fingerprinting' technology.

Original data I found way back when.
Thread 108768

Don't disregard it simply because it has "filesonic" attached.

Here's the official website, read on it, and check the news section.
Updates are nearly daily with new sites using vCloud9 for all the anti-piracy needs.

I'm gonna stop using mediafire. So far I've encrypted and passworded all my files with no retaliation, but I don't want to see my files whipped, so I'm planning to move those files. The problem: is there a good and fast filehoster that doesn't cap such things?

Not for free.
Even when you pay, the downloads are only available to other premium members.

So what are the options? Sharing by torrent files? Using "Multi" file hosters? Oh well, research time.

Use Minus, check what other forums are using. Check out a lot of forums and see the popular links.

Multi hosters are becoming popular.
But make sure to read all the details first.

I found one, but it actually requires you to have free accounts at its hosting sites and actually be signed in.

Sept 19, 2012: "We have some really exciting news, today we finished the network upgrades with Hostwinds, and we now have 20Gbps (Around 5 Full Length Blu-Ray DVD's a second) aggregated bandwidth between all of our servers. These bandwidth upgrades should more than triple the speed at which you can download and upload files. If you have any issues at all please email our 24/7 support department: [email protected] We look forward to continuing to serve all of your free file sharing needs. Please recommend us to your friends and family, nothing helps us more."

I do not know if these changes will mean an end to their habit of deleting just-uploaded files, or an end to those annoying "all slots filled" messages, but anyone who believed in Peeje at the start, but gave up using them, might want to e-mail them at the support address listed in their message and let them know what it will take for you to recommend them again.....

RECEIVED Nov 8 @ 5 PM:

"Greetings Peejeshare Users,

We have some GREAT news for all of you, We have fully fixed a huge bug in the coding of the file management system. The bug caused for a portion of freshly uploaded files to become "deleted" within an hour. This was caused by some sloppy coding. The files were never actually deleted, rather they were "unlinked" causing for the server to not be able to find your file, and thus consider it "deleted". This bug is finally 100% fixed. This means that all of your files, will safely be stored exactly as we promised. A large portion of the files were successfully "relinked" so please check to see if your files have magical "re-appeared" there were some files however that were unable to be relinked. We also have some more great news for you guys.

We are ADDING 5 new servers this week! This should solve any and all "slow upload" complaints, which uses far far more CPU cycles than downloads. We appreciate your continued support, and we look forward to serving you for years to come. If you have any suggestions, comments, or general feedback, then please respond to this email and let us know how you feel."

We have some very exciting news for everyone today. After weeks of subpar performance across the peejeshare file sharing network, we have decided to completely revamp the system from scratch!

We are excited to announce the launch of our completely redesigned file sharing service dubbed FileWinds! We have opted to completely remove the file sharing service from the peeje website, as that just slows things down, and the messy vbulletin integration causes problems. The new file sharing service has these benefits:

Faster Downloads/Uploads
New Improved File Manager
Android+Windows App Comming Soon for Improved File Management!
FTP Uploads/Downloads Comming Soon
5 GB Max File Size!!!!
Registered users get 5MBPs Uploads/Download
100Gigs of Storage Space
Donors Get UNLIMITED Storage Space
No Waiting/ADF.ly redirects

Everything is overall 10X better than our previous system, all old links will continue to work! We are still in favor of a free ad-financed file sharing service, and as such we are giving registered users the world, however we want to give our users the ability to earn money by using our service, so anyone who downloads files you upload, and then upgrades to premium, you will get a whopping 50% of all sales for that user!

Please begin using the new system for all future uploads/downloads

The new URL for our FREE file sharing service is: Filewinds - Free Filesharing

Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns about this very exciting change!

UPDATE: Despite what the Peejeshare homepage says, their new Filewinds file-sharing site would not recognize my Peejeshare login/password. I signed up again using the same info and it treated me as a new customer, completely ignoring the 100 files I have in my account with Peejeshare.
