I saw the Deluxe edition of "Sweeney Todd" posted earlier. Hope that no one minds if this trumps it. I've had it for years and haven't seen it anywhere.
Two discs, 53 tracks @320. No lossless, sorry.

I'm listening to bits of it now and I can't thank you enough. I'll be giving it a full listen tomorrow but so far it's nearly brought tears to my ears. I have so many memories associated with the film but mostly negative memories associated with the soundtrack due to its depressing presentation. I tried doing a rip but compared to the album (which the deluxe edition was pretty satisfactory) the quality was undesirable to me so I dropped the project. It's finally glad to hear the film edits after listening to the album versions for so long and while I admit I miss the voice snippets sometimes just being able to hear the isolated music is superlative!

Thanks for this Soundguy28. Listening to this posting with much interest. Do you happen to know (or anyone) whether the instrumentals are also composed by Sondheim? I really enjoy the instrumentals as they are quite nice to compliment the songs--the more full presentation. I can't help in a way feel that the instrumentals sound almost like they could be a bit like Elfman, but maybe it's just being a Tim Burton film that puts that idea in my head.
Also, by chance do you know what SOURCE this recording is? You mentioned I note it NOT being ripped from a DVD. I think the one advantage of musicals is getting much of the score from a DVD or Blu-ray rip, which would have stellar sound. This recording DOES has good sound quality.
Thanks for sharing this--enjoying it quite much.

As far as I know the instrumentals are Sondheim's work as well. Only he was credited on the CD-Rs from the studio. They said "Final Approved Mixes". That's all I'm at liberty to tell you as to where they came from.

I read on Wikiipedia that the instrumentals were reorchestrated for the film, to expand the sound from the smaller ensemble originally in the stage work. I am liking this expanded soundtrack better than either the highlights or deluxe edition program.

You need to say what's different about yours compared to the version posted that includes every note used in the film and with underscore not spoiled by dialogue like on the extended edition CD release.

My edit uses this source, not the album. Some tracks in this version don't run into each other like they should so I edited them to better reflect the tone of the film. For instance the track "My Friends" on this set is fragmented into 3 segments so I combined the 3 segments to complete the track on my edit. There are a few edits like that I did.

The only problem with that I see is this version is not lossless, so unless you converted the tracks to something like wav and then saved them as that, by re-saving them in a lossy format like MP3, you are in fact compressing them still further.

Yes, I did re-compress to MP3 but I also did convert to wave before mastering to avoid the additional generation quality loss. Until someone else comes up with either a truly lossless rip or a lossy FLAC, it's the only way currently to hear the soundtrack/score the way it was intended.

It's not a DVD rip. It's a re-edit of the version that is offered in this very thread. Like I said: the track My Friends in the version offered here is divided into 3 segments (1 just cuts off, 1 is an alternate, and another is the theatrical mix) and what I did is correctly mixed those to where they blend together rather than cut off and skip to the next song at an awkward cut. The track Johanna in the Trunk also cuts off (rather than fading into the opening of) Final Scene Pt. 1 so I mixed those together as well.

I KNOW it's not a DVDrip as I already have this file. I was only saying for the added record how I'm not a fan of them. I suppose it depends on what people want at the end of the day. These after all are the 'approved mixes' rather than being the final film mix, which is what you've worked to re-create with your edit. I'm happy with them as they are, but that's just a personal preference! Incidentally, a very good friend of mine worked on the music side of the film I found out recently after spotting his name on the credits :-)

No. A complete film mix is when the music plays as heard in the film. Almost as if you're listening to the movie instead of watching it. What we have here is before all the actor's performances were recorded. Half of the tracks on this album have 50% or more of the dialogue missing from the performances. This ain't a film mix.
This would be like saying the complete score for TDKR is the film mix, which it isn't. Actually, this can be said about nearly every film score out there. (I just chose TDKR cause I'm listening to it now)

This is all the actors pre-recorded vocal performances with the complete underscore included (the actors mimed to the tracks during filming). The expanded OST doesn't include anywhere near as much material and has had some spoken dialogue added to it (thus ruining what underscore they did include in the release). Finally, make sure you downloaded the OP's file and not the re-edit someone else did of it.
P.S.
If it's a version complete with dialogue you're wanting, best just rip the DVD or blu-ray soundtrack and listen to that instead.

Chrome does that to a lot of sites.
It's because of third-party ads.
When ads are invovled, Chrome says anything you download from a site that has an ad *may* be malicious.
Given this is a music archive, it's safe.
No one else has reported malware.
And if they did, it's likely they downloaded and installed a Download Installer from the site (third-party software).
Which is what you don't want to do.
