Simple idea here. What’s your CURRENT fav game, and WHY is it your current fav?
At the moment, the one game I’m more or less playing 24/7, is Dynasty Warriors 4. The game is loosely based on the novel, "Romance of the Three Kingdoms", which was written about 600 years ago (I think), and was based on true events which occurred within China around 150AD – 250AD+. There’s just something about this game which calls to me. Could be the senseless violence, running around, killing all these soldiers and commanding officers and getting a huge kill score at the end.
The music in the fourth instalment of the series (The first was a Tekken clone, and the 2nd and 3rd instalments led to 4), is pretty darn good. It still has a rock base to it, but also some traditional chinese instruments as well. While the music is not on the same level as Nobuo Uematsu’s (Final Fantasy), it’s unique for it’s own game.
The story in this game is simple, choose a member of one of the three kingdoms (Wei, Wu or Shu) or from one of four ‘other’ groups, and fight your way to control of China.
What I really liked about this game, was the way it helped me ‘relax’, for lack of a better term. Anyone here who knows what I’ve been through lately, can probably understand.
Dynasty Warriors 4, is my fav game of the moment, and most probably will remain my fav for quite some time, until Dynasty Warriors 5 comes out that is!
Seriously though, I’ll be moving onto playing Wild Arms 3 next. Hopefully I can finish it when exams and stuff are over.
Stupid exams.
Also to defeat those blasted Dark Aeons!!! >_<
My current fave games though are FFX, Devil May Cry, Marvel v.s Capcom 2 and Dynasty Warriors 3.
EDIT: And Return of the King. Deary me how could I forget that one???
Also.. I’m getting into Zelda: TWW again. Treasure location and digging them up
+ Last but not least and especially fun when you’re not alone: MK:DD!!
Other games that I’m interested in are WC3, JA.
I recently joined a CCA, that allows you to play computer games. IN SCHOOL!! For those who don’t understand a CCA is something that students in Singapore have to join when they are schooling. It’s to get better qualifications to enter the UNI next time. It’s a stupid system but that CCA is just too good to be true. I can’t wait for the first meeting.:D Then I’ll be able to train up my WC3 skill.
Currently me loves playing Return of The King, that’s an excellent game, recommenf it to all you gamers out there.
There’s also Max Payne 2 : The Fall Of Max Payne, which is a really good game in my opinion even though I only give it the odd go because me got alot of work to do these days and I only really play it when ma 10 year old lil brother gets stuck at some point!!!!
Both top games
Silent Hill 3 – this game completely knocks Resident Evil off its ass, showing that true terror is not knowing or seeing, rather than knowing or seeing. Multiple endings and extras, more ideas in the gameplay, more adventure oriented, smarter, better looking, more ambitious, I absolutely cherish this game.
Xenosaga: Der wille zur Macht – though its not quite the monumental cinematic achievement that Xenogears was in story, I truly believe the gameplay exceeds it. The battle system is deeper, more involving, and requires one to try to sneak past or run from enemies…I’m frankly sick of random battles.
Soul Calibur 2 – the best fighting game I’ve ever played. Smooth, deep, quick, and variational.
Vagrant Story – a truly timeless RPG. Probably the most ambitious RPG to have graced the PS1. From my conversations with DL, it had even more but was limited by the PS1 hardware. Anyone missing this game has missed a truly great RPG.
Chrono Cross – story guided, yet at the same time so many paths and combos to choose from. A nice battle system as well.
Other honorable mentions: Parasite Eve, FF7 for story, FF8 for deep and innovative gameplay, FFX-2 for the new gameplay direction.
Great story, great graphics, very fun to play, funny characters, different gameplay elements. This game is probably the best game I have played all year, and nobody has an excuse not to play it because it is on every system.
The first Star Wars game i’ve played which actually felt like I was in the Star Wars universe… and it managed it, even though it was set 4000 years before the movies.
But i’m getting all excited about FFX-2…just a few more weeks…
It would be a great game, except for the glitches in it! The programmers should be pulled out and shot.
*This post was made almost immediately after getting to the last boss in the game and not being able to continue because I did something out of order and the game lost its mind… and I saved it after screwing up of course, now causing me to have to start the game over*
What can I say? I love these types of games.
