Back when I was 11 years old, my Dad bought the NES that my cousin owned off of them for �70. It came with 7 games - one of which was Super Mario Bros 3. I loved that game, and one night when I was up late around my Dad's, I finally completed it at 1am, watching the ending on a black and white TV screen and admiring the pretty worlds I had skipped with warp whistles.

So, what is your earliest memory of defeating a game?

Shadowgate, for the NES, when I was about 7, freshly re-arrived in the US. That game is great, I still have/play it.

Toejam & Earl, I love that game. it took ages, but I eventually did it, and I was sooooo proud. All those hours of dieing and coming back to life, and collecting presents paid off.

oh man... i can't remember that far back... might have been Zork, but I can't really even remember if I ever finished Zork. Could have also been Wizardry... bah who knows. I'm gonna say Zork.

I *think* it was World Cup Italia 90, the worst footy game in the entire world, but I can't be 100%

How the hell you expect me to remember that far back. I was born with a computer in my house and played games for even longer than I can remember. I don't think I had even started school when I first played wee shitty games on my Acetronic (I think you call it that). It was probably song game on my ZX Spectrum or something.

it was the little mermaid for the nes. i was in kindergarten. dont know my age, but it was a normal kindergarten age. **sigh** what a fun game.

Well I stayed up for 2 days straight when I was 7 (How sad am I), I remember I cried one time in the night, because I found it so difficult. But nowadays if I want to complete the game I use my trusty Game Genie for Mega Drive........now I don't have to stay up for 2 days on end, and neither do I ahve to cry like a little wussy baby...wait I stil do that.

Final Fantasy X was the first game on PS2 I beat.

Soul Calibur was the first game I beat on Dreamcast.

Mortal Combat on Super Nentendo was the very first game i beat

Legend of Legaia. Awsome game. It's an RPG that has the best fighting system in my opinion. Instead of attacking normaly you use a combo of directional buttons to perform a move.
Like one guy did this:
Up, Down, Up and you use an attack called Sommersault.
It kicks serious ass.

i hate to admit this, but i thought mckids was the shit back in the day. i had hella fun playing that game. it had some nice music for an nes game also. it was just a supermario ripoff, but it was still a fun game to play.

cant honestly remember.
back then i had only a NES, with very peculiar games, like silent service, 1942, vegas dream, top gun the second mission, among some normal titles like mario bros and zelda.

it truly is hard for me to say which was the first game i ever beated alone.
it probably isnt, but megaman 2 was the game i felt more happy and satisfied after beating it, no game has made me so happy after beating it.

sonic the hedgehog 3. loved that game, its so easy.
