I'm also a little disappointed that Chapter 15's land music didn't make the cut.

That said, I love most of the music on here, but I also wish they made it a 2-disc set.
It's interesting how you not only were disappointed in the absence of the same song I wish were on there, but also because you wished they made it a 2-disc set, as do I (which I stated in a post somewhere).
And for the rest of the songs in FLAC and MP3, dont worry, I'm making a gamerip. Everything is already recorded, I just need to edit and encode it all. It's about 6 hours.

OMG! Finally I can put these on my sisters iPod (who has nothing but video game music -- since real music is boring, to her :D)I'm like that too, EXCEPT I have orchestral anime music, and I listen on my DSi or 3DS, as their storage is fully expandable with SD cards, and I don't need shitty iTunes. (Almost all of my VGM is orchestral)

Also what is "That Super Souflee Soaking in the Hot Spring"?Exactly what it sounds like. Play Chapter 18.

My sentiments exactly, mind you the 3rd game is near-unrecognizable compared to the other 2, but considering what Uprising is, I just don't care. I'd gladly forget that part of my childhood if it meant continuing more of the new stuff.

Also what is "That Super Souflee Soaking in the Hot Spring"?My guess is maybe he wanted to disguise the folder name to keep the item(s) from being removed. I know rom sites that make names like P0km0nbl4k.nd5 to disguise both a rom's name and file-type to keep from getting deleted off of Mediafire. Because Media hosters can see what you upload an remove your files so they can say they're complying to some law.

And whats with the sister thing? Some sort of excuse? Embarrassed to like good music?

Thanks for FLAC. I noticed some of your settings were off. Here is what you can do to get a more accurate rip. Make sure beginner mode is turned off in EAC first..

'Defeat audio cache' should be yes. (F10 > Extraction Method > Enable "Drive caches audio data")
Gaps not detected/appended to previous track. (Press F4)
Not ripped with EAC v1.0 or higher (No checksums) (Update to EAC 1.0 b3 and enable checksums).

Dude, I've finished the game, I nearly have Palutena's power portrait thing completed, and I STILL CANNOT FINISH ONE STAGE IN 9.0! ;w; Land controls are the worst. They should have included a Circle Pad Pro exclusive controls scheme. That should have been more tolerable.

Dude, just dash through Chapter 1. Oh, and on the subject of controls... I have no problems with them (and I've carpal tunnel). My stylus hand (Right) hurt the first few times I played, but last week, I played for 12 hours straight without problems (I was trying to unlock all of the music). I don't use the stand.

Just adjust the sensivity of the camera to the max and spend some time learning how to handle it. Playing online also helps a lot.

A dual stick just cannot compare to the precision of the stylus once you get accustomed to it. It's like comparing a controller with a keypad-mouse when playing FPS.

Must be old age. There are people online, including myself that thrive on the controls. Its simple and they're no different than a 1st person shooter on the 3DS for right-handers. Move with the slider, shoot with the L, and turning the camera left or right is just a quick flick of the wrist.

Though I do feel sorry for left-handers, or more accurately, sorry for any shmuck whose actually trying to use CirclePad Pro for anything except a door stop.

The controls aren't so bad. On land, I'm used to the default, it's kinda like Metroid Hunters. 'Cept 3rd person. And you can dash. (Ok, so I guess it's not really like that.. but anyway..) Finding and alternative attack button is hard when you're right-handed; especially since my launch 3DS is pulling that "HERP DE DERP DEFECTIVE L BUTTON" crap that has happened to EVERY DS system I've owned.

P.S.: And I agree, real music/non-game music IS boring.

Sirsplog
05-03-2012, 09:09 AM
Thanks Vegeta for your suggestions! I'll give them a try next time I make a FLAC rip.

Also, as for the controls. It's funny, as I found controlling Mario Kart 7 worse than this (more hand crampy while playing for hours, at least), although they both weren't bad. In fact, I personally love the controls in Kid Icarus: Uprising, but I can see why some people wouldn't, especially if you're not used to holding the system in your left hand. Fortunately, I've been doing this since I bought a Game Boy and I've played lots of Stylus-heavy games on the DS and 3DS. Also, the fact that I have a Nyko battery pack might be why I feel more comfortable, as well, as it gives you a better grip on the 3DS. That said, I've only managed to clear Chapter 1 on Intensity 9.0 and some Chapters on Intensity 8.0 so far, so I still have quite a ways to go before before clearing all Chapters on Intensity 9.0.

Anonymousmon is right. The controls are insufferable. Rest of the game is top notch, but the controls really ruined the game for it.
And I am one of those who loved Skyward sword controls, so it's not me not being able to adapt to new control schemes, this one just isn't a good fit for
the type of game this is.
At least the recognised this and have lower intensities that allow even peopel who can't finish the game on higher intensities with the controls.
They even have alternate non touchscreen control setups, as well as a stand, because they had concerns about everyone liking this setup.

After a good listening, I feel the selection could've been better even with the 1 cd constraint.

For example, if they aimed for variability, there's no point on having "That First Town" when you already have "Main Theme".
The music for the flying section in Chapter 6 is the superior arrange of the Dark Pit Theme.
The soundtrack for chapters 12 and 18 are very similar, I would've ditched one of the two.
The synth tracks of the game aren't great, and the flying section of chapter 20 is no exception.

I still hope there's still the chance for a retail two-disc release, with Reaper Fortress, Medusa's Final Battle, The Wish Seed, Reset Bomb Depot (Interior), The Lunar Sanctum, Lightning Battle (ground), Mysterious Invaders (ground), To the Aurum Brain, The Chaos Vortex, Hades' Belly and The War's End.

What do you guys think?

I agree Ikkutebayo. The OST's missing a lot of tracks that I liked, like the ones you mentioned. I feel this game really deserved a 2-disc soundtrack. Who knows, maybe Nintendo will make one, but I doubt it, though.

On that note, I'm not a huge fan of Chapter 20's air theme, either, especially when compared to the game's other selection of tracks.

That's exactly how I feel. I also loved Skyward's controls, and I enjoy them greatly. The problem with Kid Icarus is the stylus-exclusive controls. They should adopt a scheme similar to Kingdom Hearts 360 whatever days and Re:coded's control method for ground battles ONLY. Air battle controls are excellent. It's on the ground where I have trouble.

PS: I, too, have a Nyko battery.

Thanks for the tracks, but how come no Dark Lord Gaol's castle or the inside of the Aurum hive one that sounds like Blade Runner, they are faves.

BTW I'm left handed and have no problem with the controls at all, In fact it's probably better for me then it you righties. Yes people are used to holding the stylus in their pen holding hand but equally since the dawn of time (well arcade machines) we have become used to controlling our on screen avatar with th pad/stick on the left hand side.

Double BTW, just in case anyone hasn't noticed when 3D is on you get a slight hiss over the earphones with the 3DS (unless it's plugged into the mains), not sure if it's an issue with all software or just KIU, can't say I've noticed it with anything else?.

@Ivalice2: Time to cool it with the insults. Any more insults and it will be ban time.1st off, doesn't do much good to threaten anyone about a ban for a free account. To me, all that "ban" means is a 3 minute inconvenience. If I cared about any of my accounts, then I wouldn't put a number in them.

2nd off, which conversation were you reading? Go look over it again. I may have been rude (albeit very playfully) but I never directrly insulted anyone. Go back and the replies of the one who can't play the game right; justified response or not, he's the only one being insulting.

Indirectly-passively aggressively saying someone sucks at a game isn't an insult. But directly calling X a Y is. So give the other one a lecture in the sacred arts of cooling it and what constitutes as an insult. :D

He didn't threaten you, he warned you, and it's not wise to argue with a super mod.

Really? That's odd. EAC never came up with any errors.Well, it's not an error, it's just different settings from the recommended settings. It's no big deal, but another ripper also used settings that differed and they got a different CRC32 from EAC in the end (though they got the same CRC from the AccurateRip Database). I'm still trying to figure out how that's possible, but it's definitely interesting.

I'm not sure why I asked such an obvious question. So should I make a new thread?

EDIT: I just got the soundtrack from the DHL man 5 minutes ago!

Did you use a proxy to get it? Or did you buy it directly off amazon.co.jp?

Thanks in advance for eventual share :'D

If you want to buy it, then you should consider getting it from Wayo Records. See the album thread over at VGMdb for more information.

It might take a while. You can get sleep if you want, as this may take a couple of hours, and I know it's already 11:24 PM over there.
And sorry I haven't given you that one song in RAW yet, I've been busy since, and haven't used the computer they were on in a while.

BTW, did you go to the Olympic Games in your (awesome) city?

Link28469, you're a Hero indeed. Not even two days after release... ah, I love it when the world just works like it's supposed to (without DHL it takes FOREVER).

Looks like no info is in the CD database, so I'll have to tag it, as well.

I'm not getting my copy until two weeks later. How did you get it so fast? And big thanks in advance if you do decide to upload a rip! :D

Link: No worries, standing down and going to bed. ;)

As far as the Olympics go...

The cycling races on the first two days went through my home town (I live about 500 yards from Richmond Park) - so I was there watching that. Utterly strange (and wonderful) to have the whole world watching my tiny little corner of London... and to see my favourite restaurants, pubs, and shops on TV. I didn't get tickets for any of the events although a few of my friends did and they witnessed the China/Indonesia/Korea Badminton farce that had everybody fuming with incandescent rage!

I did have a bit to do with it directly, though - I work in a local University and we were looking after the police. They were based on site throughout the games using our facilities, car parks, accommodation, etc. So, I contributed in my own little way to the Olympics.

My grandad was overjoyed to see it all as well - he was a doorman and programme seller at the 1948 London games. :)

No, the CD database at freedb.

In the booklet, it has credits for everything (even musicians,) but individual track info is japanese. I do not have a scanner, but if anyone can translate the info for me (who composed which track, etc.), I'd be happy to post pictures of these pages. You will receive credit for this.

This (http://vgmdb.net/forums/showthread.php?t=2618) might help you start tagging, at least.

VGMdb has a freedb server that you can use for VGM OSTs. Also, Don on VGMdb is gonna add track credits there in the next few hours/days, unless somebody else does it first.

Thank you for the soundtrack. You know... To be honest, I got a Wii, but I do agree: you should have the option to use whatever control scheme you want. But oh well, can't complain much. You don't want to use weird controls? Don't use a Wii or a DS.

Don at VGMdb has the composer info up.

French publisher Wayo Records website LiquidAcid was talking about: Link (http://shop.wayorecords.net/index.php?mod=descr&id_desc=59&lang_id=2&/)

...With Wayo the shipping costs for international orders should be 6€! :'D
