HOWEVER: I'd like to note something. This is a rare case, as anyone should be aware. Journey's soundtrack was released on the Store and iTunes due popular demand. It's also receiving a physical CD release at some point in the near future. So I'll say it: Please, if you can afford it, get the soundtrack. It's actually cheap at the PS Store, just 4.99€/$. Austin Wintory is a great composer who, besides creating an amazing soundtrack, has been in touch with fans, sending newsletters, being very thankful, to the point he actually sent a free bundle to anyone that was suscribed to his newsletter. So please, support this awesome composer.

I was planning on getting a 20€ card when Sonic The Hedgehog 4 Episode II releases on the Store. I'm seeing the soundtrack is getting a release there too, so I may consider it (I have to listen to the soundtrack yet lol).

Track 'Home' has a very special chorus section, and others like 'Glass' and 'Return' are very beautiful.
The final track of the soundtrack 'Gratitude' it's completely new, recorded for the iTunes release, with Tina Guo from Journey's Soundtrack.

It's mind-blowing, majestic, magnificent... I was moved to tears. Actual tears! And I've never even played the game!

I just put in an order for this on Amazon (sadly at the time of this post, it isn't available via mp3 download on Amazon and I refuse to use blasted iTunes) but I couldn't wait the "3-5 business days" for it to arrive. Ive been a fan of this composer ever since I heard the main theme for flow. I mean wow it really was amazing playing that game with my surround sound. Journey has an even better sound track so I would just love to hear it in flac or 320. Is 256 a standard around here? Thats over 75% compression rate.

The release is 256 because it comes from the PlayStation Store. There's a CD rip out there now, it should be VBR-0 (the highest quality around). I didn't want to upload it because, well, the difference between 256 and 320 or VBR is so, so small (and it's not my rip neither :P).

Normally I wouldnt mind but when it comes to mixing the more compressed a song is the harder it is to mix it with other things. 320 and flac just give me a lot more breathing space. Thanks anyway mate.

Has anyone ever done an actual rip of the game? The music goes through various levels on instrumentation depending on what you do and it'd be cool to have those.

For the record, I did buy the Soundtrack to Journey, in addition to Flower.

I know this is old, but you should know that CD quality is 192kbp. So taking a Cd and ripping it at 192 Mp3 is the same quality.

making a FLAC rip of A CD DOES NOT INCREASE QUALITY OF SOUND THAT IS NOT THERE IN THE FIRST PLACE.

it may seem like a good idea, but it is a waste of time and hard disk space.
Unless you can make a flac rip of the original recording from the studio's WAV file, your wasting your time.

CD tracks are not WAV files, cd tracks are already compressed, get it?

While I'm not on the FLAC side of things, it's worth saying that even if you convert something to the same bitrate as before, the process is still lossy, so you'll lose a bit of quality every time. Converting them to FLAC or OGG is a way for some to ensure that absolutely no quality is lost in the process.
