So according to Wikipeadia, Zimmer wrote additional music. But from the tracklist it looks like he wrote an alternate score. What's up with this?

It's an alternate score, but some of Zimmer's tracks were kept in the movie.

That's most unusual. Wonder why they got two scores? Who wrote first - Poledouris or Zimmer? By the way, would you recommend the film? I've read the book, so I'd be interested to watch it (particularly now that I know Zimmer wrote the score - kind of).
