I personally find it dificult to find good alternatives for megaupload and multiupload. That's why i started this thread to discuss this topic so people who has good experience with a sharing web site to post it here so others, myself included, can benefit from it.

After megaupload was gone i used rapidshare, but after a month downloading at a rate of 7 mb/s it suddenly decreased to 30 kb/s. So i don't use that anymore.

I also hate captcha recognition because i use JDownloader and this tool don't recognise the captcha. So you have to add it manualy.

So my main requirements to upload content to a sharing web site are:
- It must be free
- It has no captcha recognition, when you download
- It stores your upload for at least 6 months
- Simple user interface to upload the content

Can someone help me out with this and give some advise.

Although they could change something tomorrow, I would say Peeje.com is a good bet for now...
1) free to upload/download
2) no captcha (altho you can spec a password when you upload)
3) files stored indefinitely
4) no limit on # of files you upload or how many people download your files
5) simple to use (though was easier just a week ago)

Uploading is a breeze. Sign up and click the Share tab. Locate file and click upload. Click Advanced Options first if you want to use a password. Does all this faster than others. Files are stored forever.

Downloaders used to get a simple download diaog box once they clicked a link, but that recently changed and you are now taken to Peeje's homepage. Looks like they are getting income from ads now and obviously want users to see the ads. Download links will appear towards the top, with a button to click named "create download link". Click that to go to another page where you click "click here to download." I don't know why they added the extra step.

I'll be interested to see what other people recommend!

@yepsa,

Thank you for your input. This is the kind of information i'am looking for.

I guess so they can pad it out at a later time...

No host is on our side. They all want to make money and protect themselves from legal action.

Screenshots of Peeje's new layout, on both my Mac and my PC. Now that Peeje takes downloaders to its homepage for a link, my complaint is that Peeje is starting to succumb to the same clutter that ruined so many other sites. My link is there, but not very prominent. The fact that they now need ads to support themselves is no excuse!

I'd be tempted to name FileSmelt (http://filesmelt.com/), which apparently has no download speed/filesize limits... nor captchas. I can't really vouch for its reliability when storing the files, though. Probably i'm blind and i just don't see where they're stating such information, but there's no mention of file's expiration date on the main site... I've a few links which date back to 1~2 years ago and are still active, and other files which got deleted after a few days. Filesharing through these websites indeed got harder.

Mirrorcreator and the likes are never reliable: 1) they rely on other websites to actually store the file, and the closure of MEGAUPLOAD showed us where that could lead. 2) unless you have premium accounts on a few filehosting websites, providing those alternate links can prove to be slightly pointless in the long run... They are free/unregistered users' links, they usually die within a month from the last download.

LSK: A mirror site relies on other websites - but more than one! If ShittyHost.com or whoever delete your file, you still have seven other choices. The closure of MU is precisely why you should use a mirror service.

In addition, uploading to premium accounts means that a) you have to have a premium accuont, and b) if the host decide you're infringing / you cancel your account 100% of the files you upload are gone instantly. This is what happened at Hotfile and Fileserve.

Uploading to a mirror is a reasonable guarantee that your file will be available for at least a few months. It gives people a choice as to who they download from. And it provides redundancy in case your favourite host gets smashed up by the FBI. It's not ideal, but I think it's the best we can hope for at the moment, in this time of PAIN and MISERY...

Amanda: Confirmed - it really doesn't like Callista! Idiotic beyond belief. Change the name to "cock wank penis tosser fuckface shithead this file is illegal warez.zip" and off you go, no problem! :-D

Download cock_wank_penis_tosser_fuckface_shithead_this_file _is_illegal_warez.zip from Mirrorcreator - Upload files to multiple file sharing sites (http://www.mirrorcreator.com/files/1S9WBV6Z/cock_wank_penis_tosser_fuckface_shithead_this_file _is_illegal_warez.zip_links)

I have reuped the first three volumes of collections of themes which can be found at http://forums.ffshrine.org/f92/tv-film-themes-80495/3.html#post1544409
I have used FileSmelt (thanks LSK!!) and it's almost fits my requirements. The only problem what persist is that JDownloader users can not download it. It has to be done via the webbrowser. Download speed is great more than 2 mb/s (depends on your internetsubscription). So now i'm curious how long the link will be active.

Hold on there! "Cock wank penis fuckface shithead" is my stage name and under copyright. Infringers will be required to suck my callista!

I've been told that "Peeje doesn't work in Jdownloader" (their words). Can anyone confirm that? If true, I assume that these unfortunate souls can still download something the usual click-the-link-and-go-to-Peeje-homepage way?

Tell the lazy ones to drop Jdown. a moment and do the deeds the old-fashioned way, simple as that, no need to confirm anything.

Amen to that!

In any case, beggars can't be choosers at the moment. Frankly, if I upload something today and it's still there a week later, I consider that a good deal. That's the way things go at the moment. Forget about queuing up a million files, or wanting the host that doesn't mind if you download 500gb a night for free... Just give me one that works, hangs on to your stuff for a reasonable amount of time, and isn't liable to get blown to pieces by the anti-terrorism squad... ;)

Never used Jdown, never will. first because the damn thing didn't sem to want to work for me, then because I don't mind DL'ing one thing at a time. I already have more music than I can possibly listen to, so I'm not in a hurry.

As for the uploading thing, I do the same as Amanda, but I don't name my files the same way. if I upload something, I use initials and sometimes translated titles. let me give an exemple. if I was to post a Dragon Ball Z ost (not going to happen even remotely soon), the thing would be called "lBdDZ_O5T.7z". or lBZdD

Why these initials ? Dragon ball Z in french can be translated by "Les boules du Dragon Z" or " Les Boules Z du Dragon".

either way, that works quite nicely. I don't upload or mirror much to MF, because MF doesn't work very well for me, but each of my mirrorcreator uploads are saved on a separate Rapidshare account. and they are here to last: it's a premium one.

I think I've made it a point to say that I personally use divshare.com. They start you out at 20gb for free, with direct links, fast upload/download times, 2gb upload limit, easy user interface, files stay online forever, and absolutely no ads. The quality services they provide are worth paying for, but if you don't, I'm sure you can use multiple email accounts to get as many free 20gb accounts as you need. If you're just starting to upload, divshare is a great place to begin.

I did do a little digging through divShare's subscription fees when I noticed people were saying that they were PAYING for premium accounts on file sharing sites such as MegaUpload (reference the MegaUpload Shutdown thread). So I've come up with divShare's rates. They are starting out free accounts with 20gb storage/unlimited bandwidth. If you upgrade at 39.99/yr you receive 100gb storage with unlimited bandwidth. The Professional Account is not even worth mentioning because the rates for that are ridiculously expensive, though for a personal account at just over $3 a month, it's cheaper than running a website with a hosting plan.

At this point in time, if you were intending on paying for a premium membership, divShare might be your best bet.

Once again, you are given a 2gb upload limit, and files stay online forever.

I have tried with Peeje but the last week there are issues with the link. Instead of downloading the file, a page to upload is opening. So this mean no more uploads via peeje.
Are there any experiences with other upload sites which are good, in reference what you can read at thread 1

Gordon Bennett, this isn't "no more uploads" via Peeje; Peeje are having technical difficulties!

I do wish people would stop suggesting that the patient has died when in fact he has nothing more than a grazed knee.

They're probably being overwhelmed by abuse and can't decide which "Y MY FILES NO DOWNLOAD U FUCKBAG Y PROVIDE ME FREE SERVICE AND IT NO WORK I KILL YOU FOGGOT!" or "WEBSITE HAS BEEN DOWN FOR THIRTY FOUR SECONDS PEEJE IS DEAD I'M MOVING TO BETTER FILE HOAST" email to answer first.

(Not saying that's how you were addressing them! But I bet 99% of the "mail" they get ranges from abusive to retarded. I'm an administrator at another forum and I was receiving so much nonsense messages and mails that eventually I decided to ignore them all. Yeah, that's bad for the 1% of people who did have a genuine problem or something worthwhile to say - but as one man doing it on a voluntary basis and funding it out of my own pocket, I wasn't about to read through 99 "you're a giant faggot, dude!" messages to get to the one that was worth reading.)

That said, it would be nice if they made some sort of announcement - they're not perfect. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt because I know what they're going through. I think things will sort themselves out.

...Well, the point is, I've been looking for an alternative hosting site when my space runs out. I don't intend to add another bill to my collection, so finding another site will help if I need more space than I already have. So having a service, even partially for free, is a bonus.

Though most hosting sites require wait times, and they don't allow for direct links, so I am turned off by most of the popular sites. This is the main reason why I never got an account at MegaUpload in the first place, and I'm glad I never did.
