This is really nice score, very western in it's sound, a bit like John Powell works. Here and there we have percussion and electric guitar, but it sounds really good - it's not RCP, it's just guitar that performs along with orchestra, not some "Electric Orchestra Kit";).

I made this thread, 'cause I haven't seen this score here before. Correct me if I'm wrong.

This is really lovely captivating score. Korean composer Lee Ji-su is a worthy rival to Joe Hisaishi from Japan I think. Thanks for sharing Herbaciak.

I was just about to say that! This fellow definitely has a Hisaishi-esque sensibility about him. Occasionally, he degenerates into MV/RC territory but most of the time it's melody above all; backed up with a terrific command of orchestration.

I don't know why he has to bugger up every other cue with cheesy percussion (The Weasel Returns) but there's enough good stuff going on underneath to make them worth listening to. Overall, a very positive experience!

"Leafie, Into The Wild" is no film score, folks... that's classical music. Just wonderful.

Thank you for this score I would have even known existed if it weren't for your post. :D

Great presentation! Thanks for linking to lossless as well. The cover is too cute to pass up even if you hadn't given it a glowing review!

even if you hadn't given it a glowing review!

I would really like to write some extremly glowing things bout this score, becasue this is really good thing, but I'm to lazy for that. Listen what Tango says, cause he's right. Except for the fact, that for me percussion is more than solid here, and adds lots of "coolness".

Also I can't hear Hisaishi here. Yes' it's all about melodies, but Hisaishi? For me it's definitely closer to forementioned Powell in style of orchestrations and melodies itself.

p.s.
Flying Race (Victory) is probably the most optimistic and cheerful and awesome piece of the music I've heard since some time:).

Sirusjr is right... how can you pass this up when it has a cover like it does?

For what it's worth, I didn't say I thought it sounded like Hisaishi. I don't want to put words in his mouth, but I suspect that's not what Yen was getting at either.

Moreover, the composer's approach, in general terms, seems to be somewhat like Hisaishi. The moments of pure concert-hall splendour, the idea of grounding almost every cue with a strong melody, the innocent simplicity of the themes combined with a spotless, thorough, and joyously flamboyant orchestration. That's where the Hisaishi comes in.

Conversely, I don't hear any John Powell in here. I think if Powell ever wrote something of this calibre he'd consider it an unparalleled career highlight. I despise most of Powell's music with a vigorous passion.

Fantastic orchestral soundtrack! Thanks for bringing it to our attention, I never would have found it otherwise. My favorite track is Duel of Death... I like energetic "battle" pieces.

sounds interesting to me now that I'm a big fan of Hisaishi's works and with the positive response about this score this would be a good chance to hear it for myself.

thanks a bunch!

10? Holy shit. Why do I have to pay 30 for a Japanese score, then? :-O

Because Japan is nuts. Everything there is crazy expensive. Taiwan and Korea both don't have that same issue so most of their stuff is cheaper. I have talked about this before in other threads where I mention Taiwan or Korean editions of J-Pop CDs. They are cheap, usually about this price, but can't be sold in Japan.

Okay, it just so happens I am Mister Twister. And I have some bad news for you all.

1) 4shared does not allow downloads for non-members anymore.

2) The application I used to rip the album has beed updated recently, and the newest version produces better (FUCKING PERFECT) sounding files. That means the version you downloaded is meh.

Good news: I will be re-uploading the thing on MediaFire in a few... minutes.

Someone will need co confirm that all tracks play; one of them uploaded way too quickly.
Free Cloud Storage - MediaFire (http://www.mediafire.com/?f0tn8j9kx89h6)
I protected each file with a password for the following reason: the soundtrack is legally available for sale for just 20 bucks. I don't want everyone to be able to download it for free.

Password for all tracks: KlarkKent (how the Hell do I spoiler text?)

Can we get a link re-post or FLAC pr MP3(320kbps)
Never trust RAID 1 or linux to store your stuff.

EDIT: Scratch that, found it around: Mega (https://mega.co.nz/#!RFp32ayA!W7HuSg62yUo_x2fSPOQRGHmk_BBsv0GfAvreJCU GwnE)
Its on ALAC audio format, you need Foobar to play it (and lame mp3 codec) to convert to MP3.

Thank you very much for this. I just discovered this gem of a story the other day from YouTube. I watched the uncensored version (made my own uncensored edit since I couldn't find that version anywhere :( ), then I watched the English version... Then re-watched the Korean subbed version to see if the original had better feeling and dialogue. By the thousands it is better in every way, even if the English version does have most of the ending put in, they left out that one very important clip of the tearful mother and then of her slowly, almost mournfully, walking away with Leafie... And apparently you mustn't show animals peeing or pooping, or farting, to kids ohhhh goodness no! (sarcasm), cause they edited that out of the English version too lol. The name changes were dumb and made a mockery of the intelligent dialogue story-line from the original.... And they dumb down the music D: The Korean music was and is amazzinnngg. The English music was too silly and light hearted. Why on earth change something that was perfect already? :\
I loved A Duel of Death, Large Scale Chicken Escape, The Weasel Returns, Mommy Will Be Watching, Flying Race, Mother's Love, and I Wonder... Will I Ever Fly?. Without those and the other songs, the movie just didn't have that same emotional impact, compared to the English version. I cried both times I watched the Korean version DX More so than with the English version (though the misty eyes were there, just not as big as with the Korean one). I'm not the kind of person who cries easy. It's too bad they edited the English version so much. It was perfect the way it was. All they had to do was translate the dialogue to English properly.
Is there such a thing as an uncensored official dvd/bluray release anywhere? >> I'd totally buy that in a heartbeat.
Sorry for the paragraph lol. I'm just a little high on my experience of Leafie, A Hen Into The Wild. And I had to share my thoughts about it sommmmmeeewwwhhhere. Thanks again for the ost! Al the songs work perfectly for me^^
