Has anyone else here, either have copies of these games or even played them? Personally, I love them, as they were the first 3-D strategy RPG I've ever played.
Vandal Hearts, released in 1996 - This game follows the adventures of a SDF soldier, Ash Lambert and his friends, on a journey across the world, battling all sorts of enemies and bosses. Also, the ability to choose which path of advancement each character can choose. For example, the bowman can progress along either the archer path of development (Archer and then Sniper), or the hawkknight path (Hawkknight and then Skylord). The same with all the other characters, with the exception of Ash himself. He can progress along the knight path, OR, if you can find 6 special holy artifacts, and take them to the church and give them to the Father, you enter into a special character, called a Vandalier. This special character, is not only immensely powerful, but has acess to every single spell in the game, and the cast rate for them, is relatively low as well. Having Ash as a Vandalier helps greatly in the final level of the game.
Vandal Hearts II, released in 1999 (Not to sure on that, haven't played it in ages!) - I admit, I wasn't really fond of this game, as it has altered the path of advancement and binned that completely. For flying units, you can buy flying armour, and in with this armour you can wield whatever weapon you want. In the prequel, the flying class was limited to a lance. One ability I did like, was the skill to learn certain abilities from weapons, shields, armour, etc, etc. Once learned, you can shift them to other more powerful weapons, if there are empty slots in them. Very useful.
These games were released by Konami, and I love them. The first one more, than the second, because it had a good storyline and plot to it. The sequel had a good one as well, but I felt it had something missing, but that's just me.
So, have you played them? What do you think?
