I downloaded the original Dragon Tattoo trilogy. But it is in Swedish. It did come with english subtitles. Anyone know hoe to hardcode these subs into the movies?

Few specifics to note:

1. I want the subs to show on the bottom, not the top.

2. I want to burn the movies to a DVD & play them on my 360. When I do that, I want the subs to show.

3. When I do this, I will be doing it for the first time so I need a very easy program.

Thanks for assistance :)

Why do you want to hardcode them? You don't think you'll ever want to turn them off?

The movies themselves are in Swedish so they need to stay on or else I won't understand them lol.

Had they been in English, I wouldn't want them at all.

Besides, I think if I burn & watch on 360, I won't have the option to turn on/off. I know the option is present for actual physical DVD's as in purchased. Don't think so for burned stuff though unless I watch on cpu, which I don't intend on doing.

depending on the format you downloaded, you usually have to re-encode anyways. most of those give an option of which (if any) subs are to be included, and to hard-code them or not

I wasn't told I had to re-encode. Great. More of what I don't understand.

Someone replied to me finally saying ConvertX can hardcore subs. But according to what I read on google, seems to be a DVD copy or whatever site. Was also told VirtualDub does this, but they didn't provide instructions.

most of the programs are pretty easy. iirc, when using convertx to dvd, you can just drag/drop the file in the queue. then over on the right side it shows languages/subs, and you can pick which of them you want, and if they are hardcoded. i could be remembering a different program (or an older version), as i havent burned things to dvd in several years.

Let's say I used ConvertX, hardcoded subs, burned the movies to discs. If I were to watch them anywhere, would the subs be there? Like on 360?

thats how it should work. if subs are hardcoded, it actually combines the image of the subtitles with the frame that they are shown, so every frame of the movie that shows subtitles now irreversibly has them showing. kinda like in LOTR when they speak elvish. even if you have subs off in the options, those will still be there.

Oh I see. Also gotta find a way to get the subs hardcoded to the bottom of the screen. Not the top. Some movies had them on the top & it was distracting so had to delete them.
