There comes a point in every game where you simply can't just normally run from one point to another. Why? BECAUSE YOU WALKING SPEED IS TOO DAMN SLOW! For example, in Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow as Julius, I always jump up and do a Dash Kick Down-Forward instead of running.

What games have you played in which your usual case of going from point A to point B would be something other than walking normally?

If possible I use warp spells, stones points and other warp related items.
Ofcourse with the luxery of airshipes who needs the ability to warp? xD

Sprint shoes own. Run Celes, RUN!

Well, there's also the dashing in the MegaMan X series...

Of course everyone buys Sprint Shoes and everyone who played the PSX versions of the SNES FFs used that dash button, heh. Same thing for FF Origins.

That was probably the most annoying feature of Suikoden. The fact that your character COULD NOT RUN. You were limited to one pace alone. And that slightly marred an otherwise awesome game.

In fact, Shining Force 2 had the same problem. And yet these two games are amongst my favourites.

Some control systems aren't that user friendly when it comes to running. I remember the great Maniac Mansion for the NES. The click and point move for travelling was a little bit on the annoying side. Especially when you ended up opening a door you DIDN'T want to open. And Weird Ed chucks you in the dungeon. Again. And then wonders how you get out. Again...

... Those were the days.

Yeah Sprint Shoes are great. It's a shame they didn't do such things for the other FF's like VII-X ok they run but not that fast, it would have been handy upon those times you were timed for any reason eg. FFVII: Trying to get out of the Mako Reactor at a certain time.

Come on everyone we know Chocobo's are the cutest way to travel ^^ but Airships...I love them.

In Morrowind I use levitate to fly to places rather then walk to them, or I use some scroll which insanly boosts my acrobatics and jump about 1/8th of the map, musn't forget to use another one just before I land or else I'll crater :E
