This is a trip down film music memory lane: The Carry On series of lowbrow comedies was a staple of
British cinema from the late 1950s to the mid-1970s, and then for a belated entry in 1992.
There were 31 films in all, most of them relying on sexual innuendo (Nudge! Nudge!) and slapstick
routines for comedic effect. With a stock company of players that included Kenneth Williams,
Charles Hawtrey, Sid James, Joan Sims and Jim Dale, the Carry On films were hugely popular
in their day, and became a hit on German television (as "Ist ja irre!") many years later as well.
All of the entries were scored by Eric Rogers and Bruce Montgomery. The music is mostly
light jazz, swing-band style - with a few cues in an idiom now often described as "British light music".
These are new, digital recordings, very polished and lively.
Enjoy, and Please drop me a line of thanks! :)
