AUDIO CAPTURE SOFTWARE: Audacity 2.0.3

TRACKS: 31

DATE OF RIP: July 7-17, 2013

Notes: The NES from which this soundtrack was recorded has been modified to output dual-channel audio
directly from the 2A03 chip via RCA jacks installed in the back of the console. In addition, a third jack
enables separate output of Famicom expansion audio, giving the console three-channel output. As a result
of needing to mix these to two-channel stereo for recording, I decided to create two separate mixes.

Mix 1: 2A03 merged to mono via Y-cable and recorded as left channel / VRC6 as right channel
Mix 2: 2A03 kept as full stereo / VRC6 as mono
Mix 1 was recorded from the console in one pass. Mix 2 was created in software by recording the 2A03 output
separately and mixing it onto the previously recorded VRC6 output.

Both mixes include three versions:
FLAC stereo: unmodified
MP3 mix: custom stereo mix with 55% channel crossover
MP3 mono: Full mono mix, as the audio would sound from the console’s standard audio jack.
(Due to possible mix level differences between the two mono versions, both are included)

Daum! How come there are no comments in this fantastic topic?! Thank you thank you! To my ears mix #2 sounds bit more balanced. VRC6 alone in my right ear creates a slight dissonance when listening to the mix #1. 🙂 Do you plan on continuing the thing you’re doing? How about Duck tales 1/2, Darkwing Duck? Oh yea and also Side Pocket for Sega Megadrive! (yea I know this looks like spam now but still) 🙂

I can’t find any problems. I redownloaded them all just a few days ago (hard drive crash), and the links, archives, and files are fine.

I’ll give you a thousand dollars to re-rip this soundtrack from a vanilla Famicom without mucking about with any of this weird dual-channel audio stuff.
