At the start of the 21st century, a world war breaks out, leaving the environment almost destroyed. Mankind leaves Earth, settles on other planets and starts Star Calendar 0000. Entertainment becomes outlawed, due to its influence on people.
48 years later, a group that shone through the final days of Earth, named AKB48, is resurrected as AKB0048. Labeled as terrorists, these "idols who come to see you" put on guerrilla performances on planets where entertainment is forbidden.
