This is something special; if you want a sense of other worldly Christmas four hundred years ago lost. The chapel lit by only flickering candles and smokey torch light. The crawl of mist mixed with smoke from swaying braziers dangling from gold chains. A mix of chants, spoken pieces, and ancient traditional musical instruments. I hope all will find joy in this recording that was greatly admired, cherished and dazzling when it first appeared in the 70s. I suspect for those who long for the unique atmosphere of the holiday from long, long ago; this will become your favorite seasonal recording as well. Now…. turn off the lights, cozy up in the chair, and be transported.
