Why posting every digital release Day One is bad! – Not what you may think

i did my fare sharing of digital releases on day one, but i usually kept out certain releases.
which releases? those that have a digital booklet, which aren’t available in my country or my store
of choice, in the hopes someone from a country the release comes with the db will post it.
now bart oss makes sure to post pretty much every single release on day one, some even in lossless
makes getting the digital booklets really hard. why would anyone from the usa buy the itunes version
of e.g. suicide squad score when the lossless version is available right away? nobody!

while not all of us care for digital booklets, some of us do, especially if the release is digital only.

will there be a change in the posting of new releases? probably not. but i though i address this "problem"
and maybe, just maybe not every single release gets posted on day one in lossless and we lose out on
those digital booklets.

Personally I think it should be common courtesy for uploaders to wait a week or two after a release to share.

But courtesy is a concept that will always fly over Bart Oss’s head.

Your complain is dumb, in my honest opinion. All just because you aren’t getting the booklets? I also like Digital Booklet as much as CD scans but I don’t see this being a bother to want to stop shares. The fact that Bart Oss uploads a iTunes release does not mean no one else can share the same album in other form, or cannot share the booklet in the Booklet thread.

ponyo, if a itunes/lossless version without the booklet is available, you’d still buy the release with the booklet?
i highly doubt that. so my complain is not dumb. it’s just common sense that folks wont buy it after it’s been shared online.
the only exception would be cd releases, due to their collectors value.

For the first 3 months, lossy only.
Anyone with lossless will get stones thrown down their throats for transcodes.

And then after 3 months, digital stores can sell lossless.
Then after 5 months (of initial release… not 5 months after 3 months… :eye:), start shipping out the CD’s.

Learn from video games that do DLC and turn games into episodic releases. :smrt:

Brilliant strategy, but people WILL complain. With people like LordDSP and HDlossless, they’ll just straight up riot.

Then again, most of the population don’t care anyway, so fire away.

You realize ostgems is just doing all this stupid fuss just cuz he doesn’t get digital booklets? None of what he says makes sense and just want excuses.

I also think there should be one distributor that will absorb every other label out there.

We should do a short sketch.

Take quotes from people to use as the script.
Take screenshots from existing tv shows as the main titles.
And pick a short song for the main titles.

For bonus points that have no real value, pick a commercial song (or score cue) and edit it down to sound like it was made for opening titles to a tv series.

To extend the series beyond the pilot would mean a reboot with a brand new title and extra characters.
It would be more of a re-imaginnig of sorts since the original idea is gone.
The idea being just a pilot episode.

But, we won’t object to a brand new series of similar taste.
But, we would only do it if we can get the cast of Seinfeld to make cameos.
