Favorite tv shows as a kid?

As mention in the Clarissa thread, I loved Clarissa Explains it All, Are you Afraid of the Dark, and Legends of the Hidden Temple.

I was a huge fan of Seaquest, and I had a giant crush on Jonathan Brandis. 🙁 I am afraid to watch the show now, because I don’t want my wonderful memories of it tarnished.

I was a huge Star Trek nerd from a pretty young age, but I only really appreciated Next Generation as a youngin’. It took some time for the original series sans the movies to grow on me.

I loved Saved by the Bell and I thought that was what high school would really be like.

I’m sure there are many more, but I can’t think of them yet!

In my much yunger childhood I loved Sesame Street, Bananas In Pajamas, Humphry and Playschool. I then grew into the Power Rangers and that sorta thing (can’t remember other titles.)

My pre and early teens I loved watching Cheese TV, which had cartoons like Dragon Ball Z, Yugioh, Pokemon, TMNT etc. Also loved The Simpsons and the likes. Thats all I can remember for now.

I loved Sesame Street when I was little. 🙂 I watched US Sesame Street and Canadian Sesame Street because I got them both.

There were some Nick Jr. shows I really liked that I can’t remember the name of now. 🙁 Nick Jr. was really pretty different when I was a little, though!

Sesame Street was addicting.

There was alot of cartoons I watched when I was younger on Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon. Popye, Rugrats and even cartoon shows like Jumanji and The Wild Thornberrys. There are alot of others, I just can’t think of them right now.

Hey Dude comes to mind. I liked Are You Afraid of the Dark, as well. I remember watching Voltron, of course. When I was in middle school I watched the original iteration of Powerrangers just because they took up the Voltron/Gestalt torch. Transformers! 🙂

I used to watch Blossom a lot, and Family Matters. I guess I didn’t really watch children’s programs, but more sitcoms of the 90’s.

Animanics and Batman The Animated Series are probably the two greatest cartoons of all time.

Batman the Animated Series was amazing. So was Gargoyles.

And oh man, Animaniacs! I still use it to remember my state capitals.

Scoobie Doo, Tom and Jerry, Roadrunner, Daffy Duck and Bugs Bunny were other cartoons I enjoyed when I was younger.

When ever I see Animaniacs in the listings I’ll watch it even if it is for when Humphrey Bogart turns up, amongst other things (Pinky + the Brain).

I also enjoy the odd episode of Batman the Animated Series. (http://teevee.gamefurnace.com/series/122/sname/Batman) It’s much better than Batman Beyond/Batman Of The Future.

Batman Beyond is ok, but yes it is not even close to the quality of Batman the Animated series. The writing in particular just doesn’t even compare.

I must be old. Nobody has said ninja turtles or ghost busters yet. Those beat almost everything here but batman and the old nick stuff.

When we’d play turtles on the playground, all the other girls would fight over who got to be April O’Neil, so I’d always volunteer to be Irma and therefore get guaranteed a shot at playing.

I watched Ninja Turtles and Scooby Doo pretty religiously.

I also got into RoboCop The Animated Series for a while (As short as it was).

And how could I forget one of my favourites, X-Men. That cartoon rocked my socks as a kid.

I liked the movies as well, but I much more enjoyed the cartoon (Could just be my childhood attraction to it though).

God yes! I used to read the books as well. Good times..

He-Man, Heathcliff, Inspector Gadget, Captain N, and the Super Mario Bros Super Show including the Zelda cartoons were my favorites.

There were so many to choose from, but I grew up with the Superfriends, Transformers, TMNT, Spider-man, Voltron and even the 60’s Batman series in syndication. And even younger I remember viewing Voltes V back in the Philippines. Anyone remember Macron -1 or Saber Rider and the Star Sheriffs?

I also watched a lot of Hogan’s Heroes, hence the name.

Those were the main four I can remember. The 80s ruled.

The Simpsons, Pokemon, Digimon, DBZ. A hell of a lot others, most of which I’ve forgotten entirely (I watched around six hours a day at my peak, which is phenomenal for someone without pay TV), but those four were the most enduring.

Those who recognise Snufkin in my avatar can guess that I used to watch The Moomins as a child. I used to love that show when it was on TV, unfortunately it’s hardly ever repeated. Still, top-notch cartoon and Snufkin was and still is an idol of mine.

Well, I recognized Snufkin, but I don’t think the series has ever aired here in Malaysia. It’s an anime, right? I keep finding sites saying it is. In any case, I liked the books tho.

Yeah, there was an anime of it. Also I think there was a stop animation cartoon as well as a puppet show. They’ve even got a Moomin Theme Park (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moomin_World) which I think I’ll have to visit at one point in my life. The books are pretty cool, though slightly childish (they are aimed at children after all), they’re a pretty cool read.

Back in my younger days, I lurfed Sailor Moon and Wishbone.

I liked a vaiety of shows when I was kid. My best memories are from elementary school. At first I started with the Nick and Nick Jr. I’d watch the old Rugrats, Doug, the busy world of richard scarry, Hey Arnold, etc. Then I was flipping through the channels and began to watch this segment called One Saturday Morning in fourth grade. That year is when Pokemon became a big hit.

so I really couldn’t pick a favorite show.

I had a couple of Richard Scary’s books as a child, but I don’t remember any tv show. Pretty neat reads though. I kind of wanna buy a few for my kids when and if I have them.

Ah yes I remember Rainbow Brite :D.That was one of my favorites when I was 6 years old. I remember when they still only had video rental stores with only VHSs (video tapes were a big deal when I was a kid ;)), I would rent Rainbow Brite on tape all the time.

I also loved the Biker Mice from Mars. The character Throttle was one of my second cartoon crushes when I was 11 XD.

Growing Up, I loved Aaahh!!! Real Monstes.

My favorite episode is when Ickis drinks a magic potion and produces 5 copies of himself with different personalities: Suave, Tough, Frantic, Fearless and Demented. You can’t believe my happiness when I saw that episode available for download one faithful day. I downloaded 22 episodes.

I remember Ah Real Monsters. That was right around the time when I stopped watching Nicktoons for alittle bit because imo it just wasn’t the same as the good ol’ first line up of these three: Ren & Stimpy, Doug, and Rugrats. I remember those were the only three Nicktoons that were around when I was a kid :p. This was about from ’90-93.

Power Rangers, without question. I actually started watching some of the newer ones, not half bad. In fact, Power Rangers: SPD, I would actually rank up there with the new school. It has more focus on giving characters more depth, from random demeanors to dialogue that is very particular of a character.

It’s called Taz-Mania. 😉 Possibly my favorite cartoon ever. It really sucks it was never released on DVD… a guy did upload all but 2 episodes on YouTube though.

Oh yeah lol. Sorry. Definitely a good one. As far as being my best, I don’t know. If someone asked me what my best/favorite cartoon or show was growing up, it’d be like asking which of your kids do you like most. Can’t be answered. Either that or each time I’m asked, I’d give a different answer. They were all too good to pick just 1 or even 10 for me that I liked most.

As far as being funny and action at the same time, Spiderman and TMNT fit that description perfectly. Youtube quality sucks most of the time. But better than than nothing. If you google, I’m sure you can download them somewhere. I was able to get Swat Kats, Biker Mice, Street Sharks, and others from various sites from google searching.

I had to stick with that till Spidey & TMNT were on DVD of which I now own along with Spongebob and a ton of others. Huge fan of TV on DVD. Especially older stuff. Sucks Wonder Years and Step By Step aren’t released yet! I’d love to see sets done on those shows due to the possibility of reaching out to the cast for interviews, comments, commentary, etc. I LOVE features that include cast members. It’s what drew me to buy the Batman TAS DVD set when I was in the middle of converting my old vhs tapings of the show onto DVD’s, which I’m still doing so I can get the episodes as they aired for the first time along with those old school commercials, old school qualiy, and not to mention, that old school Fox Kids logo on the bottom right corner. Sorry for going off topic here lol.

Gordian Knot. One of my favorite Outer Limits episodes starts out with the control voice (Vic Perrin) talking about the Gordian knot. "The Premonition" Also Liked "Cold Hands Warm Heart" and "Behold Eck"

I grew up in the 80s so The Muppet Show, Saturday cartoons oh man Superfriends (well the 80s iteration) I remember waking up and watching cartoons from 6-12 and mom would pull her hair out but the cartoons were so fun
I watched He-Man and Thundercats, saw the live action He-man movie with Dolph Lundgren in the theater
I did watch Star Trek The Next Generation, older Doctor Who(from Jon Pertwee and up on PBS on sundays after church) so much time as a child and teen watching science fiction

I loved a lot of the kid’s game shows from Nick, but the one that stood out the most to me was Nick Arcade.

I’m sure everyone remembers the episode that had the Sonic 2 beta.
