I’m a huge fan of classic horror films, and likewise the scores that accompany them. Mario Tedesco’s Return of the Vampire has long been a favorite of mine, so I made a 12 minute ‘suite’ of music from the film. There is a word or two of dialogue, 3 screams, a few wolf howls and ambient sound effects (wind). I’m not sure how the score was originally written to flow, but most of the music that is used in the beginning when Lugosi is staked is also used in the end when Lugosi is killed again. I was able to splice music together in this way to be mostly dialogue free.
It’s worth noting – while I am a huge fan of these classic scores, one thing I am not is an audio engineer. I have very little talents in mixing and editing music and this was done for my own private enjoyment. So don’t expect a seamless edit here 🙂
