So, I arrived a little bit late for this, kind of mad cause the busses are the whole reason I was late. I stop and wait for my connection, and… it never arrives. Either, it was a half hour late, or I missed the bus I was supposed to get on, cause the drivers are incompitent. Either work.

As for the actual show, I’m so happy I got this, there are two sources, this one specifically is the Zoom iQ5, edited to sound as wide as possible. The actual audience cheering bits have some rather bad clipping, so I just automated those areas down so they don’t break your ears when listening. I had the mic gain turned way up on this one, just cause I know how quiet the symphony can be, it’s not going to be loud as a normal rock show blasting out of the PA, so some small things had to be done like that. I could use a compressor, but then I would compress EVERYTHING, and I don’t really want to be compressing the actual music super hard, but I want to squash the audience cheering and make that quieter, so manually automating works best for that. Exporting the files is going to be a little bit of a run around, but it all works for the best.

As for those first two tracks, I said I was late, which is why I didn’t get them, the Overture was missed completely, and the Dragon Roost Island was only a little bit of a miss, but still. At least I was able to record and get to the show and actually see most of it. That’s all I care about.

Another small thing, the people around me and the one guy behind me, were ANNOYING. The one guy cheered and went ‘WOOOOOO’ between each song, it was so damn annoying. The iQ5 doesn’t actually capture how annoying it was in person. So, there is that at least.

I was also tinkering with my Tascam DR-07 and trying to get that to work cause I didn’t have batteries in it, and in the dark I had a hard time seeing and actually getting the batteries in the right way. Whoops. I also had the wrong settings on the DR-07 which is why Act I is missing from the DR-07 source.

This is post editing like, everything, I’m at the finale, and my recording does catch how fucking annoying he was. There are random sharp dips in volume just cause of how goddamn loud he was, he managed to hardclip everything. If you want to know why the audience cheering bit has been automated down so hard, it’s cause of that guy. Behind me to my left, and cause I had the gain so loud due to the symphony not having the PA turned up like rock shows, it sounds like he’s screaming in the mic directly due to how goddamn loud he actually was. So, automated the audience down instead.

And, on a side production note, I had the gain turned down for Act II, I probably shouldn’t have touched it, but all the same. Still sounds great.

Tascam 24-bit source.

We would like to include a heartfelt thank you to the people over at Setlist.FM for constantly doing their best to update and accurately post setlists from every show possible. Everyone makes mistakes (and they’re known for it) but they have helped us immensely in writing up track listings for our shows, and lots of the information found accompanying our shows is thanks to them. Whether we have used Setlist.FM to collect information for this particular show or not, they deserve so many thanks for all the help they have given us in the past.
Finally, the confusion in regards to the legality of recording concerts is due to those dishonorable individuals who sell them. We do not condone selling freely-shared live music, and blame those who sell concerts for the lack of people recording and sharing content. Let it also be noted that any who sell this recording deserve nothing more than to have their own collection confiscated and shared freely with the masses. Please only degrade audio quality for personal use. Also, we ask that you keep this info file intact.
Not one shall gain profit off this recording.
