They are not converted. AIFFs play in iTunes and others, and can easily be converted into something else.
This is exactly as I remember the music sounding as I played this on my Mac back in the 90’s. All the emulations/re-mixes/etc of the score done for ports and/or HD versions have always sounded a little off (especially the first level of the second episode)… but this is how it’s supposed to sound, if your going for how the music originally sounded playing the game back in the day (on the Mac, anyway).
