Hey there fellow shriners, back with another Renegade Edit. I’m proud to present to you all my custom complete score to one of Danny Elfman’s most underrated scores to one of the most underrated films, A Simple Plan.

Danny Elfman is one of my top five favorite composers. His scores range from Tim Burton films, Superhero films, as well as other films such as Men In Black, Red Dragon, Dolores Claiborne, Mission Impossible, Wanted, and Good Will Hunting. Its also worth noting that he was also the former lead singer of Oingo Boingo.

I absolutely love the score to A Simple Plan. Its one of those scores (like Se7en) that I never thought I would get into as much, with its moody, calm, and sinister vibe the score brings out in you, but sure enough, it did. I had recently found the complete score from another site, but I had never listened to it before, but when I did, I just knew I had to make a version of this rare gem.

Also, I first saw the film just a few days ago, and I highly recommend giving it a watch, gripping from start to finish.

This newer edition contains both the complete score and the original album, and a few alterations have been done to create a better listening experience. Some cues have been combined like 1st Sighting and Brother To Brother and the volume has been increased to match the volume of the original album.

Thanks! One of my favorite Elfman scores, and one of my favorite Sam Raimi films. One of the few times (probably the only time) I’ve ever heard flutes used as a sort-of percussion (during the more dissonant parts). Glad to finally have the full score.

The first time I heard this score (in the movie, obviously) it reminded me of Henry Mancini’s music for "The Night Visitor" (AKA Salem Come to Supper) – with its de-tuned piano. It’s one of Elfman’s best scores. Thanks for this… scott
