I was also able to include some music that was cut from the official release in the newly included "Sunken Ship" cue–as well as a morsel of the 2 or 3 minutes of music cut from "The Giant Squid"–though there’s still a fair amount missing, unfortunately. A minor flute overdub originally missing from "Hunting the Monster" has also been restored.
Lastly, I’ve included two new bonus tracks that give direct insight into the production of the film, taken from extras on the DVD release.
More Dream Collection is on the way very soon!
There isn’t a whole lot to add beyond what I specifically mentioned in the OP, but I can elaborate. The Disney release had several instances of overlaying & crossfading between bits of music to fill in dead space; a practice which many people, myself included, find frustrating since it’s wholly inaccurate to how the music was originally written & performed, especially when entirely separate cues are combined into one. The squid track, for instance, is actually comprised of 3 different cues that have been mish mashed together, "The Giant Squid", "Battle in the Storm", & "Nemo’s Rescue" (the latter cue being only half complete on the soundtrack)… This would be fine if the beginnings and ends of each cue weren’t overlayed over one another sloppily.
Fortunately, I’ve been able to restore all of the tracks containing crossfading to their original glory–specifically "Searching Nemo’s Cabin", "Ashore at New Guinea", "Submerge", and the aforementioned "Giant Squid"–and removed most instances of SFX overdubbing from the film, mainly two cases of whistling/humming from the ME track in "Ned’s Bottles" and "Ashore at New Guinea". Though I must say… Why the SFX were included in the first place is a complete mystery to me.
If you want to compare for yourself, there are a few uploads of the original soundtrack here just a forum search away. 🙂
Thank You!
