Apart from the really awful Beyonce and (new) Elton John songs, they took one of the greatest movie soudtracks of all time and just made a pretty generic soundtrack, besides both were composed by same person. Zimmer just have Elfmanized himself…

Of course! And in the Dark Knight Trilogy style too! Forget that pre-TDK style where everything was more symphonic! We want banging drums and fart noises!

Actually, while this isn’t a replacement for the 1994 set, I think it compliments it quite well. I was worried it would be a complete rehash and not an elaboration, especially with regards to the Stampede and Battle of Pride Rock sequences. The only sequences I expected to be practically identical wound up being so here ("Circle of Life/Nants Ingonyama" and "Remember").

The one thing I do miss is the "Busa Simba" end title though. I’d kill for a new arrangement of it. Maybe Zimmer did and it just didn’t make the album.
