Zombie Flesh Eaters / Zombi 2 – Composite Score (1979)

This was a 2010 project to assemble a definitive composite score to the 1979 Lucio Fulci film Zombie Flesh Eaters (AKA Zombi 2). While a number of retail scores have been released over the years, they all vary slightly on the inclusion/exclusion of certain tracks, and some tracks present in the film are not on any release. I used a total of five CD/DVD sources, to give the most complete version of the soundtrack available. These are the sources;

A number of the above soundtracks contained recent re-mix tracks, but none of these were included, just cues specifically composed for the film in 1979. Three score cues used in the film have never been released on any soundtrack, so they have been carefully edited from the movie’s audio using Reaper 3.01; an audio multi-sequencing & editing program. Some tracks were simple to edit such as the Autopsy sequence as it played ‘cleanly’ from start to finish. For others, I had to piece parts of the score together, removing as much of the speech and sound effects as I could. I tried to achieve a happy medium between getting the cleanest audio and seamlessly editing each of the parts together, while still keeping each track as long as possible. The Underwater track still has some sound sound effects such as water & bubbles, but nothing distracting. You can see the full CD layout with the source information listed against each track.
