Apologies if this should be under another forum but I figured this would be a good spot for those who have it.

While curating the 96/24 OST, I noticed that OMNIS LACRIMA sounds odd and has some crackling to it (as if its breaking up). There’s other tracks as well, but I made notes on this one for now.

I’ve uploaded 3 versions of the song, all obtained from here. Each labelled with the degree of crackling present.

The Test
Skip to the 1:20 mark and listen for 10 seconds, as the song swells up, by 1:25 you’ll be hearing some significant crackling in the track labelled "Crackling". There’s another version I found which improves the situation but still seems to have some crackling present (labelled "Some Crackling"). The last version appears to have no crackling (or if its there, it’s almost inaudible) but appears to be from a CD (44/16) source.

The Ask
Can someone please help validate what I’m hearing. The crackling is very audible to me but I don’t understand why. The 96/24 source is supposed to be from the Bluray so I have a hard time making sense of what’s going on in the track (I can’t imagine someone could make a bad rip of the Bluray audio since my understanding is that it’s not as complicated to get a clean rip as it is with a CD). Does anyone have a clean 96/24 version of this song? I’d love to hear some informed thoughts.

Yep, the 2 you provided line up with 2 of the files I provided as well.

The 96/24 has significant "crackling" at the timestamp mentioned (1:25) while the 44/16 has the same but reduced. Only the alternate 44/16 version I posted seems to be devoid of the crackling. Have you compared your 96/24 version with the 44/16 version I uploaded? Do you hear what I’m referring to?

I have no idea.
I do not like my hearing better than your hearing
After a while, I will pack BR original files.

Yep, that’s the same as the 96/24 version (although with the video). Very odd. I guess it’s inherent in the BR source.

Just a quick update to let anyone interested know that I made a separate post analyzing the issue further. The most audibly affected track is "OMNIS LACRIMA" while the rest are more minor.
