Hi everyone!
I now have all versions except the original, composed for symphony orchestra in 1786. The work is Haydn’s The Seven Last Words Of Christ, and the orchestral version is numbered HOB. XX/1A.
I’m looking for a performance on modern instruments. This can be a historically informed performance, or just the usual symphony orchestral forces.
Wikipedia recommends the following recording: The Seven Last Words of Christ Wiener Philharmoniker, Riccardo Muti. Recorded in concert in the Groes Festspielhaus in Salzburg on 25 August 1982. Deutsche Grammophon CD.
However, I’m happy with any version of your recommendation and posting, so long as it’s performed on modern instruments.
Many thanks in advance!
