What Happened to the Custom Cover Thread?

Sorry for asking, but what happened exactly? Why is it closed?

Leon closed it, I assume, because of DAKs and Huntertechs replies. I don’t know if it gets reopened. I hope so, but I wouldn’t count on it.

I was told it would be re-opened eventually, so I think it’d be best we remain patient in the time passing. No opening new threads or anything like I what I said before it shut. I guess the best we can get for posting any new covers is for new scores that pop up.

Why close a thread completely which hundrets of people enjoying and dozens of really creative people participated in because of seemingly 2 people? (dunno what exactly went on, just from what the last few posts kinda hint at)

As the long-time community-voted President of the Custom Covers Thread, I have respectfully and patiently stayed quiet all this time, but I totally agree with Heidl, and, seeing as this has been brought up again I will now voice my opinion. Brace yourselves.

Leon, I barely know who you are. But I know what happened, which was nothing whatsoever on a scale to warrant such drastic and frankly childish action as shutting down one of (if not the) most enjoyed and used thread on this entire section of the Shrine, a thread that had absolutely nothing to do with uploading/downloading music or anything personal about any of the community that frequented it. It was a creative hub where people came to share their talent and appreciate the talents of others. For many years, we’ve enjoyed each others’ company and encouraged each other with advice on the various different styles each regular contributor has developed.

You have abused your power here and completely overreacted, needlessly punishing the vast majority of a community for no reason.

If you want to now ban me for sharing my opinion, go ahead. I’m actually expecting you to, based on your previous knee-jerk reaction simply because you had the power. But honestly, I’m disappointed in you. You should be better than this and not stoop to such levels. Grow up, re-open the thread, and get some balls.

I have never complained about anyone here before. This is the first time I have ever said anything that could be considered "out of line". I am simply standing up for a group of creative individuals against irrational behaviour. If Leon had been less childish and handled his upset with more maturity this wouldn’t be an issue. This is what happens when a mod is inexperienced, obedient to authority and afraid. I won’t cry, I won’t complain, I’ll just leave for greener pastures (literally). I could have done so without this drama but me doing it like this might have a slight impact. Truth is, I’ve dabbled with the thought of leaving for quite some time. Over the years, the situation with this forum got progressively worse, more and more hindrances took the fun out of sharing, talking, discussing. So I will use the closure of the cover thread as a reason to move on. It was fun while it lasted, I learned a lot and overall I’m thankful to have been here.

All I know is that one day the thread was open and then locked the next. And for the life of me I couldn’t come up with an obvious reason why. The custom cover thread. Locked? What could possibly warrant such a move? It’s populated by a small cast of characters most of whom don’t engage in much off-topic banter—they just upload images … which can only lead me to conclude that this is about something personal.

Because what more or less sounds like ‘I can do whatever the fuck I want as a mod you losers’ ain’t exactly kosher. I mean, the level of open hostility … eek.

Question for the many regular contributors in that thread, would anyone be interested in a community on Reddit just for soundtrack art? I’ve never created a subreddit before and would probably need some help. Just trying to see if there is any interest in that route or if we’d rather just move to places like JWFan and FSM?

I haven’t been around long, but just wanted to say that i loved the work the Custom Cover Thread contributors shared..

I use a lot of their art and think we are all lucky to be able to have access to it, it is a credit to the forum and one of it’s biggest assets in my opinion

No petty arguement between a few members is worth the loss in appeal that the closure of thread has caused to this forum.

Whilst I agree with you DG, I also agree with what has previously been said within this thread – the more we are to complain, the less likely it will be unlocked. All we can do now is wait, and hope that if, and when, the custom covers thread gets reopened it’ll be just as creatively engaging, and collaborative, as it was before the incident that resulted in its closure.

There was nothing troublesome going on at all. Somebody made one comment about a user being banned. That’s literally it.

You guys are just going to have to chill, the Lossless VGM thread has gotten closed and re-opened a couple of times for stuff. It’ll happen if you just give it a few days.

Whilst I can respect the reasoning behind the response, the thread’s been closed for 3 months. Cameron007’s reply is more to the point: it’s punishing everybody for the actions of a single comment (cheers for the correction). Voicing our want of it to be reopened is really the only option outside of sitting on our thumbs.

More or less I will edit Soundtracks. So far, I have a soundtrack for the first Matrix movie. I have a front part and a back part of the cover, then an inside cover when opening.
