Mike Batt – Watership Down: Original TV Soundtrack (2000, FLAC)

Another Batt classic, this is I think his finest ever record. Songs and music from and inspired by the 2000 TV series version of Watership Down.

Tracks 4 and 5 were actually rejected score from the original 1978 film – the former was re-recorded for this album but the latter is the original unused recording from 1978, recorded in the same session as Art Garfunkel’s ‘Bright Eyes’ single. Track 3 was later covered by Katie Melua and became one of her signature songs, but here is the original sung by Cerys Matthews.

A later re-release entitled ‘Watership Down Suite’ focuses on just the instrumental pieces and comprises only tracks 1, 4, 6, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12 and 14 (in the same order), so that is easily playlistable should you wish.
